I don't understand why colombians like Shakira and Gabo Garcia Marquez are considered as "true colombians" even though when Shakira comes to Colombia once every five years (if lucky) and Gabo's homesickness and love for Colombia are only portrayed in his novels... cause he lives in Mexico and his kids are mexican.
Now I learned that Shakira along with other artists will perform the Live 8 latinamerican version in cities like New York, Madrid, and in only two latinamerican cities... Mexico City and Buenos Aires.... and my question is what about Colombia?
In Mexico will perform in one night Shakira, U2, Alejandro Sanz and Ricardo Arjona...
In Buenos Aires: Mana, Gustavo Cerati among others...
Don't understand why the hell Shakira and the honorary-president of the ALAS foundation Nobel Prize of Literature, Gabriel García Márquez did not include Bogota or another colombian city for a show like this...
Don't get it.... sad

NataliaV says on Jan 5, 2008, 06:31: From my understanding many Colombians living in Colombia do not like Shakira because of the prices she charges for tickets to her concert. The complaint is that in her home country she charges just as much as we pay here in the US to see her, while Juanes among others do free concerts often in their home country.

gabolicious says on Jan 5, 2008, 08:03: chorizo... did you know that Gabriel Garcia Marquez lives 30 mins from facultad de filosofia y letras in Mexico city? and that he likes to walk among literature students in Mexico? (I tell you this because I've seen him) that also happens in Colombia? I don't think so! did you know that he has like 5 homes in Mexico (2 in Mexico city, one in Cuernavaca, and the other 2 in the beach area) and that Gabo is always organizing open-to-public-cultural debates in Mexico but very few in Colombia, why is that? if he loves so much Colombia? toneloc24 says on Jan 5, 2008, 08:46: Shakira has done a couple of free concerts in Barranquilla over the past 2-3 years. She's generally been there in some capacity (official or just passing through to see family) at least once each year, according to some of the Colombians I know there. Her last concert there was a stormy rainy night which some 20,000 people braved in the stadium and enjoyed. "Don't tase me, bro!!!!" |
