Voluntariado????

I would like to volunteer during my 2.7 months in Colombia (Bogota y Medellin). Can anyone recommend any NGO or Voluntary Groups in these Cities? I found Bogota YMCA, which seems cool. Oh and I'm NOT gonna pay to volunteer. Thanks!

We have several volunteers at any time in the Proaves nature reseres, we do charge a small amount to cover food and accomodation (about $12 a day). Actvities can include reforestation, environemental education, bird surveys, making paths etc. Compared with other volunteer programmes this is not expensive and you will really get to see some parts of Colombia that most people do not, and do something very useful as well. It is pretty easy to get funding in your home country from friends or family for this sort of thing, we can't offer it free as we would be indundated with volunteers and unable to manage the programme properly. We do try very hard to make sure this a good experience for all parties and that the volunteers are well looked after. Ideally small groups of 3-6 volunteers for 1-2 months work best, with one of the group speaking some Spanish..
