Visiting Bogota

Hi,

I visited my family in Cali, Colombia last year in April during Spring Break. I had a wonderful time and am thinking of returning next April for two weeks.
I had a layover in Bogotá due to plane problems and we were all given a 600 dollar voucher. So, I would like to visit Bogotá for a few days. Is it safe for a single female like myself to visit? Does anyone have any advice or recommendations on where to stay? By way is there a US military base in Colombia?

Gracias,

I appreciate it!

From one girl to another Hi,
Im living in Bogota and have a few female friends here who are all foriegn living in bogota also. With $600 USD you should have a great time in Bogota for a few days.

If you are arriving at night make sure that you go back inside the main terminal and book a taxi from the taxi office its much safer to have a "registered" taxi. All my girlfriends travel only by taxis that they call for. They give you an id number and you match that with the taxi you get into.

Reguarding accomidation it all depends on what kind of experience you want. If you stay in a hostel your more likely to meet people who you can go out salsa dancing with. If you stay in a posh hotel you will have less cash to have a good time with but more plush sleeping arrangments.

If you want info on hostels...private msg me and I will track down the internet addresses for you.

Bogota Hi

Just read your reply to the girl coming to Bogota.

I will be visiting over Thanksgiving week.
Nov 19 - 28.

Would like a mid range hotel near the entertainment district.

Can you make some suggestions? I am a single male.

Can you reply to my e-m address - arthall at att.net?
