Visa to enable Irish guy to live and work in Colombia?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this list.

I'm from Ireland and I'm strongly considering moving to Colombia to teach English shortly. I plan on staying for at least two years.

Can anyone let me know what my visa/work permit options are? Some people have advised me to just arrive and then look for a job, but in reality, how easy/difficult would it be to get a working visa once I'm in Colombia?

Muchas Gracias!

Bart

It´s fine now, you can enter normally with a Irish passport.

Lots of people work without any sort of working visa, it´s up to you if you want to take the risk, or, if you can find someone to sponsor you to work for them, all is cool. Either way, DAS wont be helpful in any way.

Try the Colombian consulate/embasssy in Dublin.

Thanks for the advice everybody!

at Paulr - it may be my only option to work without any sort of working visa, but I'd slightly worried about what I do when my tourist visa runs out etc, or when I went to leave Colombia - what would the authorities say when my visa is no longer valid?

What are people's experiences of working in Colombia without a work permit? Feel free to PM me.

Muchas Gracias!
