Visa run to San Antonio

I want to head off today to Cúcuta and over the border to get my visa sorted out. Even though i´ve got no money at all I´d like to use the opportunity to get to know a new place over the weekend if its possible. I´ve already found this post which is very useful

http://poorbuthappy.com/colombia/post/work-visa--just-got-mine-and-her...

But i´d like to know a bit more about San antonio. Is it expensive compared to Colombia? Is it nice? Worth staying a couple of days? Are there any hostals and does it cater for tourists at all?

Any help is welcome.

Cheers

Christian

San Antonio - doesn't cater to tourists, similar prices to colombia, not a nice city. get in and get out as fast as you can. get to the colombian consulate first thing in the morning (make sure you get your exit stamp when you leave colombia and get you entrance stamp for venezuela, you have to find the office for the entrance stamp), there will probably be a big line of people outside, go to the front of the line and find an official to talk to, all the people in the line are waiting for something else, then get inside and do your thing

just be sure you clarify carefully with your employer all the documents and copies you need before you go.

I agree with all of the above. I live in Cucuta, I would suggest you stay in Cucuta and take a taxi to San Antonio, 5.000 mil pesos. If you need help with anything, just PM me. Ven. is a half hour behind Colombia. Get to the consular 6 am or you will be screwed.

span_Colombia is quite correct. Get in and get out.
If you think that place is crap, wait till you meet the locals. Cucuta is much much nicer. Jeans, leather jackets, hats, boots and toiletries are very cheap if you want to kill some time.I especially dig the 5L Listerine.
