Hey, I'm a student who is going to travel to Colombia this summer hoping to do some photography, both of landscapes and hopefully journalistic type photography as well. This will be my third trip to Colombia but the first where I may require a visa. Because I am a student, I will have to finance the trip on my own and work independently, only to try to do something with the photos upon my return. I will only be there 45 days. On the Colombian Embassy's website, it looks like the best option for me is the temporary visa, but does anyone know how likely it will be that I am rejected? I know it is tough for independents to work in Colombia these days, so I risk rejection to enter Colombia for photography. Is there anyone good I should contact about something like this?

adrienne79 says on May 18, 2007, 12:19: where are you from? Colombia doesn't require a visa from most coutries if you will only be there for such a short stay. You can just enter as a tourist.

Gator says on May 18, 2007, 12:49: adrienne79 I thought the same but what if it involves a course of study or perhaps a business activity. I would be helpful if we could be told WHY she needs a visa. "Brevior Sltare Cum Deformibus Mulieribus Est Vita!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

KyleHanky says on May 19, 2007, 12:34: Just a heads up... I'm a guy. Not sure why gator stated I was a girl, but to the heart of the matter. I figured I'd best try to get a visa. I'm going to Colombia on June 30th. Do I have enough time? What do I need to do to get this thing? I have the application and I know I need to geta translated copy of my criminal record (I have none) and some other things. What other steps do I need to take and what steps would be best to help me? And descalzo, we'll discuss things more.

Gator says on May 19, 2007, 17:38: MISTAKE CORRECTED, SEÑOR Again it would be very helpful if you could tell us what type of visa you are going to attempt to get. There are at least 14 different types and all require different documentation. The only (temporary)temporal visas that might fit would be a student or work visa. Unless there is a compelling reason why not just enter as a tourist and after the initial time period is close to expiring apply to DAS for an extension-the cost is small? Most visas are issued in three business days. "Brevior Sltare Cum Deformibus Mulieribus Est Vita!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
