Visa for France

What is the process for a Colombian citizen to get a tourist visa for France (To visit family). Is it the Schengen Visa or is there a tourist visa specifically for France.

Also any info on fees and timeframes would be much appreciated.

I did try the embassy page http://www.ambafrance-co.org/ but it doesn't work on any browser and Google returned http://www.ambafrance-co.org/spip.php?article478 which seems to talk about a tourist visa for "los Territorios francés de Ultra-Mar"?

Thanks in advance

Go to this website: http://www.ambafrance-co.org/spip.php?article902

There you get all the info to apply for a Schengen visa to visit France. You will need an original certificate of lodge and boarding from your family in France, issued by the police or town hall before you can apply for the visa. If you are not staying with them, you can just show the hotel booking instead.
It costs aprox 170.000 and takes 2 to 3 weeks.
Is the Colombian citizen the spouse of an EU citizen?

ok just checking. If she were an EU citizen spouse the procedure would be a little different and easier, and it would be free. Good luck, post back when you know how it went.

my parents just got the French visa, i think the thing first is to check their site and check when the form for visa request is open.. they close for some month and ten they announce when they will be open again.
2) they had to take the hotel reservations were there are going to stay in France, we also sent a letter of invitation stating were going to take them to France, they ask for the tickets but my parents said they were going to stay most of the time in the UK and from there they were going to France but they didn't know which day so they checked their UK visa and tickets.
they had to pay 60 Euros + 200.000 COP for some kind of insurance

they got the visa for 3 month :))

With the UK visa ( no part of the Schengen) they both got a 5 year multi entry visa :)))

OK....my wife is an "EU citizen spouse". How much easier is it?. I assume that there is no need for the hotel reservations.

For the spouse of an EU citizen I believe you only have to take the spouse's original passport, the original marriage certificate, passport-size pictures and the application form. The process is free. Double check as each consulate has different requirements.
