Visa Approved ...But

Well, after more than nine months of waiting my wife and her son's CR-1&2 visas were approved:) But the embassy would not issue the visas today. The policy for immigrant visas is they are issued the following business day. I was hoping they would make an exception since it is Christmas and she lives near Cali. But no...she must fly back to the embassy next Tuesday to pick up the Visa. It didn't matter that she just had a baby, that she has to fly back on Tuesday and that I would like to be with my son soon...they just said it won't be issued til Tuesday and you must pick it up yourself.

I was hoping they might make an exception and I bought her a plane ticket for Christmas day. I know I was not supposed to, but I thought...it's been 10 months since our marriage, we have a 3 week old and they won't make her fly back to get the visas. Well they did and now there appears to be no flights available until the middle of January. I guess our government wants to do all they can to make this a difficult and extremely long process. But on the good side, she will be in the US to celebrate our 1st anniversary.

Once she is here, write to yo First of all, congratulations! You will find that it has all been worth it.

Once she is here, write to your congressmen and bitch them out. With enough complaints they may eventually get the message that among their other duties, they are there to "serve" the citizens who pay their salaries. I despise the US embassy and everyone who works there so if any of you are reading this, I hope you get nothing but lumps of coal this Christmas. Believe me, you don't deserve anything else.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

congrats! It sucks that she has to go back to bogota and all of that... but it is the way it is, and what matters is that you will be finally together in your home.

We are very happy for you and send our best wishes to your family

Merry christmas
