I don't know of any "15 mil" hotels in Villavo. I am sure there must be - just take a cab into centro and pick one of the dives you see. But man, that is super-cheap. The hotel I recommend is the Hotel Portal del Llano. It is up the hill a few blocks up from downtown. Calle 41 No. 30A-22 Calle El Resbalon Tel. (098) 6626131 The rate will be better than any other comparable hotel in town. AC, cable, WiFi, well kept up. They are not exactly hooker friendly. If you show up and ring the bell to get in at 4am with a girl you picked up in a bar, you will pay for the extra person.

The nightlife there I would call awesome. I am not even into going to discos, but I have a great time there. Siete de Agosto is the latest zona rosa, with probably 2 dozen small discos packed into a 4 block strip. There are two other zona rosas that are not as upscale and can get seedy. Club Kuarzo is a giant, extremely upscale nightclub on the edge of town. Look for the spotlights at night. Los Capachos is a giant club also, on the edge of town between Exito and cuidad porfia.

Whorehouses? Never went to one there. There seemed to be a concentration of whiskerias south of Unicentro. I honestly couldn't tell you the barrio or street. There is one on calle 15 called whiskeria sex appeal. That is across from Postabon and the Renault dealer.

Want a great meal cheap? Calle 15, "Cali mio". Best rotiss chicken in the world, full menu from fish to steak. Sit on the sidewalk and watch the crazy drivers as you eat. Have a bowl of mondongo for me.

There has to be 30 hotels in the downtown area. Just ask your cabby for the cheapest he knows of. Pay for the night, if it is too expensive, use that as a homebase and go hotel shopping. You'll have to literally step over sleeping homeless people to get in some of them. Good luck.

Aires magazine this month has a story about Villavo. They mention a package at Hotel Llano but it doesn't look like an economy plan. 3 days and 2 nights, breakfast, lunch and dinner, round trip ticket to BOG. from 1,297,000. On second thought, that sounds cheap. I've got the numbers if you're interested.

"At least in The Dr it stays stable same with Costa Rica" When you get back be sure & let us know how you felt about the prices for everything, especially for food, in comparison with the DR & Costa Rica.. I found the food in both those countries inedible & everything very expensive compared to Colombia.. and the food & drink is much much better.
