Miguel says on Aug 30, 2009, 05:50: Doug, yesterday's storm had lightning very similar to what you see in south Florida; the video just didn't capture it. It appears that Cartagena had similar conditions but with much more wind than here in B/Q. "Tis the season". dwmte7 says on Aug 30, 2009, 08:49: florida IS the lightning capital of the world. they have a huge research center near tampa/clearwater. we get those bolts that spread clear across the state--it seems. but i don't want to diminish lightning in colombia, tampoco.....once at the airport (maria cordoba) i was walking back to the finca...about a mile...past the glorietta and down in behind santiago de armas, and it started raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock...just torrents. i had my daughters little german schnauser with me, and i decided to cross the field to save time. well, we were both drenched, running through the cow pasture and about 5r0-60 ft in front of us was a cow standing by an old telegraph/phone pole maybe 15 ft high. and the cow was about 6-8 ft away. KA FUCKIN BOOM....a bolt hit that stick/pole, the cow went up inthe air 3 or 4 feet, came back down and ran off and i pissed my pants.....real bad. scared the ever livin shit outta me, and we're soakin wet and still out in the middle of the pasture and there's probably gonna be another bolt. patriarch 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
