Venezuela's RCTV: Sine Die and Good Riddance

Venezuela's RCTV: Sine Die and Good Riddance - by Stephen Lendman

Venezuelan TV station Radio Caracas Television's (known as RCTV) VHF Channel 2's operating license expired May 27, and it went off the air because the Chavez government, with ample justification, chose not to renew it. RCTV was the nation's oldest private broadcaster, operating since 1953. It's also had a tainted record of airing Venezuela's most hard right yellow journalism, consistently showing a lack of ethics, integrity or professional standards in how it operated as required by the law it arrogantly flaunted.

Well that is great news then. I know NOTHING about that network or it's history. But, I will assume what you and others have said is the gospel truth ... not trying to offend you by that "gospel" word, just an expression. So, with RCTV's "tainted record of airing hard right yellow journalism", "lack of ethics", etc. - it is a damn good thing they are now gone. 3000+ people out of work, but that's ok, the State will take care of them. (I am sure of that) Hopefully, the US can follow Chavez's lead, and the President can pull a station that leans far right or left off the air. No more CNN, no more FOX, no more MSNBC. That way, the government who wants us to hear and see what really is the correct things, can make sure that public programming is available to us all.

i remember it was about 1987 or 86 im not sure. i went to visit a friend in what was communist Poland at the time ( actually part of Russis). what a dreary, dull, cold, grey, silent country that was. one thing i recalled was that they had 3 TV stations all run by the goverment. one station was all agricultural news, the other was all other goverment news and the third had a variety of programs like dance or goverment approved movies. talk about BORING, talk abou Goverment CONTROL. talk about sad people. that was it! Look like if vladamire and Chavez and beckhead have their way Venezuela could have a similar future.
