Had a meeting with my attorney this weekend in Bogotá and she had two financial types meet us for lunch, social not business. The general consenus reguarding the peso is by the end of the year it will be 2100 CPO to the dollar. I was told this is not only possible but likely.

Last year it was evident it was much more highly regarded,, after all,,, that was what Spain was using and one EURO got you more pesos !!!! camilo says on Feb 23, 2004, 17:23: for a fact the govcernment can´t let the Peso go that up, that would terribly hurt the exporters. I think right now between analysts there is a average devaluation of the peso for the end of the year of 6%. In the case that the dollar continue to fall I think there is a huge barrier at 2600 and 2500.

poco says on Feb 23, 2004, 17:37: I hope the Peso holds,, I have dollars !!!! Think there is a barrier at the numbers mentioned. Yep,, it would hurt exports but,,, now this is off the cuff,,, but Colombia needs to purchase capital goods that are NOT made locally,, like tractors, food, factory equipment, etc. I think they will export OK at the lower prices. Need to check to see what they export, coffee, flowers, emeralds,, and oil,, if they quit messing up the pipelines :) "When you men get home and face an anti-war protester, look him in the eyes and shake his hand. Gator says on Feb 23, 2004, 19:30: EURO better than the USD Put 'um side by side and see which one is picked up firse-it won't be the EURO. They smell trouble and the central bank is spending big bucks to prop up the peso but so far, nada "Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
