Value of the Peso vis a vie the Dollar

Based on what I've reviewed,, I think a 10% drop from the current 2740 interbank rate to approx. 2450 is in the cards.

The COP is at a 5% better exchange rate than the EURO/USD devaluation over the last year. So,, at least a 5% drop from today is "built-in",, still a gamble,, but a good one.

Mid 2000 the COP was at 2,100. Who knows,, it could go that low, but I can not see a reason,,, ??? Unless the US is trying to help make it easier for Europeans / Colombians to buy our goods ?

for a fact the govcernment can´t let the Peso go that up, that would terribly hurt the exporters. I think right now between analysts there is a average devaluation of the peso for the end of the year of 6%. In the case that the dollar continue to fall I think there is a huge barrier at 2600 and 2500.

I hope the Peso holds,, I have dollars !!!! Think there is a barrier at the numbers mentioned. Yep,, it would hurt exports but,,, now this is off the cuff,,, but Colombia needs to purchase capital goods that are NOT made locally,, like tractors, food, factory equipment, etc. I think they will export OK at the lower prices. Need to check to see what they export, coffee, flowers, emeralds,, and oil,, if they quit messing up the pipelines :)

Frankly, if you are not familiar with Colombia I would hesitated to start investing. I believe in Mark Twain's advise about the market; "May and June are particularly bad times to play the market, as are July, August, September, October, November, December, January, February, March and April."

Sorry I cold not be of more help but Colombia, God Love Her, is a little to unstable for mew to be in the market ther. Perhaps a Global Fund with an emphasis on South America?
