Utopiacowboy, I-130 or I-129F ????

Greetings! Its been a while since I've logged on. After I got my marriage visa from the Chicago Consulate, I thought I was on easy street. Then I remember that I need to get a visa for my wife after we get married this month. Three weeks untill the wedding in Cartagena!!!!! I can't wait!

In a previous post, you were kind enough to give me some advice about how do get a visa for my wife. Here is what I understand ( and I know I need help)

-Get married in Colombia 12/21
-Get copy of Long-form of marriage Certificate. (how will I know what the long form is?)
-Get it translated in Colombia
(only because its cheaper, or because the translator needs to be recognized my
the US/embassy/INS ?)

-Fill out and sign the 4 pages of g-325a
one for myself, one for my wife

-Get the photos of myself, and of my wife to submit with the g-325a

-Do I submit this with the I-129f or with the I-130 ??
the I-129f states: "If you are filing for your spouse under the K
nonimmigrant visa program, mail your application to:
USCIS, P.O. Box 7218, Chicago, IL 60680-7218."

When do I submit the affadavit of support?
What other steps am I forgetting?

Thanks so much!!

Answering your questions here goes:

"-Get copy of Long-form of marriage Certificate. (how will I know what the long form is?)" Just make sure you ask them for the full copy of the registro civil.
-Get it translated in Colombia (only because its cheaper, or because the translator needs to be recognized my the US/embassy/INS?) Basically because it is cheaper. Just make sure the translator is certified by the Colombian government and attaches this statement to the translation:

"I (typed name) , certify that I am fluent (conversant) in the English and Spanish languages, and that the above/attached document is an accurate translation of the document attached entitled (name of document) .

You need 4 copies of the G-325A for you and 4 for her. Make sure you sign in blue ball point ink. You don't want them thinking they are photocopies - they need to be 4 originals.

You file the I-130 first with the service area that services your part for the US. When you get back the Notice of Action (I-797) from the USCIS, then you can file the I-129F with Chicago - you have to submit a copy of the I-797 with the I-129F petition.

She will only need the I-134 (Affidavit of Support) at the visa interview - this is a long way down the road - you will probably be seeing her again before then.

Also the photo requirements have changed 0- they now require passport type photos.

Buena suerte!
