U.S. Visa good for the EU?

Since the EU has the tourist visa agreement between the different countries ie.. Tourist visa for England is also goot to travel to Scotland, France ect, does anyone know if a Colombian citizen with a valid U.S. tourist visa needs another tourist visa to enter one of the EU partner nations?

Yes, they need to apply for one. Having a US tourist visa may help but no guarantee. I have a brother-in-law with tourist visas for Australia and Europe but he still got denied for a US tourist visa.

A tourist visa for England or the UK is _not_ good to travel to France or other Schengen countries. If necessary (according to your nationality) you'll need to apply for a seperate Schengen visa, however... _having_ a UK visa or a US visa, makes an approval for a Schengen visa (and the other way around) more likely.

US tourist visa is only valid to visit US. UK visa only works for UK. Schengen visa works for most of W europe, except Switzerland, and that is all I know.

And for Switzerland, you pay a ridiculous fee at the border to enter. At least when I was there crossing from France into Switzerland in '98, that's what happened.

THANKS for the comments. This visa thing is getting so out of control. My wife is Colombian, I am American, she has a U.S. tourist visa since we live in Colombia and I wanted to take her to London for a holiday. Also thought we would take the train from London to Inverness Scotland, then up to lockness and maybe catch the boat over to holland but this seems like it is going to be a real pain in the ass for her visas.

I just got spoiled being an Gringo with nothing needed but my passport to travel

If she had a US green card, now things would be completely different. There are numerous countries including Canada and Mexico, that require a tourist visa for Colombians but not if they have a US green card. Sad to say but a US green card gets a Colombian into more countries with less hassle than their own passport.

She needs to fill in the form

http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ApplyNow.aspx (and get all the usual bank statements etc)

to get a British visa

The British Visa will cover you for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
You can book the train at www.thetrainline.com N.B two singles will probably be cheaper than a return-the earlier you book the cheaper it'll be.

The ferry from Rosyth (nr Edinburgh) to Belgium is quite expensive, http://www.directferries.co.uk/rosyth_zeebrugge_ferry.htm

You'd be better getting the crossing to Rotterdam from Hull.

If you want to go to Belgium or Holland you'll also have to get a Schengen visa for whichever country you plan to arrive in first.

She can apply online for an interview at the UK embassy in Bogota and get an interview in a few days. Things that help are letter of invitation, bank statments to show adequate funds, proof of a job in Colombia (I guess if you have one and she hasnt this would also help), and yes the US tourist visa. I have a Colombian friend coming to stay in a couple of days, they weren't happy he had enough funds, but they did not refuse it else he would have had to reaplly and pay again, they said come back tomorrow with more papers, and it was fine.
