Anyone know an ATM in Bogotá that offers the highest maximum withdrawl limit? I could only get $300.000 pesos from atms, and it seems the ATMs offer the best conversion rate (less the $5 international ATM fee)

We use citibank ATMs in Colombia.. My bank in the US, doesn't charge fees, and I don't think we have ever paid more than a buck of two in the ATM transaction and less than $5 on the exchange rate... Capital One is great, as viajero has said...

We did the wire services when my wife was in Colombia... I felt fleeced by the fees and the shitty exchange rate.. never again...

I give it another month or so. Yea, more or less election time. After that my best guess is the $$ heads back down into the dustbin of history to use "sovereign society" financial guru lingo. All their reasoning is sound. The only amazing thing is that its going up again right now. dont expect it to last. Buy now, while the sale is still on.......

The Euro is down to 1,41 for a Dollar from 1,55 some weeks ago, but the colombian peso is at allmost 3000 for a € from 2800 in the same time. Anybody has an idea why this is so?

0 funny, 0 helpful.

OneHappyBoy says on Sep 9, 2008, 05:03:

Colombian Inflation- relative to Europes inflation and how that is factored into interest rates. Supply of money (COP), relative strength of the Dollar. Colombian's government choosing to stop buying its currency on the foriegn market.

Low valued COP makes Colombian's exports relatively less expensive, and therefore, hopefully, stimulates the economy...

Colombia had some seriously high growth the last few years.... and they could afford a strong COP policy. Now, with a weaker world economy, it benefits Colombia to have a weaker peso, to stimulate trade, increase tourism, and investment...etc...

Pretty much the generic money policy, but what I have read, this is pretty much the issues...

The USD will continue to strengthen, as long as the financial markets continue to strengthen. If we get another hit, like a huge bank collapse, the dollar will sink....

For my own selfish reasons, I wish the US would buy euro dollars on the foriegn exchange market to prop the dollar up more..(drive down oil and take cash out of the coffers of middle eastern countries)

With our Record Trillion(S) Deficit accumulated under Bush, how can it possibly be any worse under Obama? Why put the SAME party back in office who creatd the Mess and Esp McCain who voted with Bush on his issues over 90% of the time. McCain is NO agent of change! Now if Repub Ron Paul was in McCain's Shoes, yes, I would agree, Ron Paul really could be called an Agent of Change but not McCain. McCain says he is against all the $$$ Lobyists yet just last week at his Convention, who was there but all the Big Money Lobbyists spending Big Bucks throwing all those Lavish Parties, Golf Matches. And those Lobbyists will be looking to McCain for BIG favors if he is voted in. Where is the Change?

The problem with Obama will be that there will be no checks and balance. Dems top to bottom. I don’t like McCain but unfortunately we must all plug our nose and vote for one or the other. Unless Ron Paul says something good at his press conference tomorrow morning looks like I will be stuck voting for McCain and I really don’t want to. We cant afford Dems having control of everything and ramming spending down our throats. MM you turn such a blind eye to Obama. lol Its laughable.

Don’t tell me you have the gall to say it’s not the same for Obama. And all the earmarks he takes. At least McCain has never taken earmarks. Although it really pains me to defend McCain..lol But people are so blind with Obama just because he gives a good speech.

Yet Obama doesnt even have the balls to vote on alot of issues instead he votes "present" on alot of things.

miamimike says on Sep 9, 2008, 13:15:

I rememberthe republicans saying the same thing about Bill Clinton in 1992 about his claims on reducing the Budget yet the net result 6-7 years later was a Surplus. I could never vote ofr a Guy who has voted along with a Guy 90% of the time as someone who now says he is all for change. McCain needs a Pair of Flip Flops along with Palin who "Was for the Bridge to nowhere before she was against it" LOL

Yeah tomtom, but in a rigged game, what are u gonna do? Just get sucked in like the rest of em and allow them to play u like a fiddle? Yeah, in a strict practical sense its a wasted vote, but sinembargo, its still a vote for reason and truth. And u have to know that nothing important is really gonna change otherwise. The American polital scene is nothing more than a predictable grade B hollywood movie, where I fall asleep on the sofa before the conclusion.....
