US banks are restricting loans not just to emerging markets but to the US market also.
I work in the banking field and this is just the tip of the iceberg, the contagion has crossed to europe, credit is tightening up worldwide, maybe the 1 billion chinese and the billion indians will keep the real estate market afloat in latin america, I would not hold my breath however.

something interesting i found today on a stock play today on a company called Mosaic.......a fertilizer company. thursday, they took a 28 point dump.

seems that part of this is due to latin american farmers not being able to have the credit to buy the usual amount of fertilizer.

i'm no farmer, but i wonder how this cutback on fertilizers will affect the bananas and coffee mantra of the number 4's.

Depends if banks continue to ask for 6% to loan each other money for one day.
