Although it would be a good movement, it do not really protect the employment in colombia due that the protection is only over the chinise menace, but not over the gringo's menace, that will receive grants to destroy colombian production in the free trade. However, Chinise products, even with the huge taxes, are cheaper (or at least comparable) than USA products, and, usually has a comparable quality. So, the protection Uribe has offered do not stop the destruction of national industry, it only make the process slow. I hope Colombian industry will decide to increse it's quality, is the only way to survive...

vladimiro says on Jan 27, 2006, 11:47: Article mentions only a few textile products. It does not seem to cover all textile products let alone non-textile products. I am familiar with the textile industry in Colombia and in the last 5 years have seen it grow significantly. That said, in one plant in Colombia I saw an article posted on the wall describing a Chinese factory producing the same product as the Colombian factory at a far greater quantity and for a much cheaper price.
