Hi,
I am from the UK and I'm 17. My mum is Colombian and she thinks it would be a good idea if I moved to Colombia for uni. I'm kind of worried as even though I understand most things in Spanish I sometimes find it difficult to speak the language.I can say most stuff but i get my tenses mixed up and also i get embarassed when i talk because im not totally fluent. Also I'm worried about fitting in, and what the social life is like over there. I've visited Colombian loads of times, but i've never been in a school environment. If anyone has any advice or can tell me anything about colombian universities, i would very grateful.

I doubt you would have as much diffifulty with a degree from the UK. If I were you I would consider researching your UK Uni's to see which of of them would be willing to accept some of your courses from a Colombian uni so you can spend a year on exchange in Colombia but still get a UK Uni degree. Some may even have an exchange agreement set up already.

That way you can spend a few years in Colombia at the same time getting credits recognized in the UK. Kiki Ortiz-Matallana 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

You would fit in just fine! Kiki Ortiz-Matallana 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

The hard part is getting an opportunity like the one your mother is giving you. Smile if you are a thinker! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Cerealkiller says on Apr 15, 2005, 05:16: I think you should come over during the summer holidays enroll in a summer course or soemthing of the sort, a lot of people take subjects during the summer to earn extra credits. If you like it, you can do your first year here and always apply for a second year entry in the UK, most unis, except Ox-Bridge of course, will accept this. I tell you because thats what Ive done myself. However, I think you might wanna earn our degree in the UK...If you end up doing it here, make sure you enroll prestigious unis, otherwise you wont get your degree recognized overseas. You can send me a PM if you want more info..Id be happy to help. :) Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives -John Stuart Mill 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
