My girlfriend's grandfather is listed as her father on all legal documents (birth certificate & baptismal record - mother listed as 34 years old at time of birth & father 74 years old!!). Therefore we assume we should list him as her father on the K-1 application. Unfortunately no one in her family has a clue about where grandpa was born, his birth date, nor the date of his death. There has been no contact with her actual father's family for 30 years & apparently no one knows where to track them down to obtain accurate information. We have no information on her actual father either. He was from out of town & her mother & father did not exactly have a long term relationship.
Any wise advice as to what we should put on the K-1?
TIA
Don
