Una pregunta para Colombianas

I assume few Colombianas will actually ever read this post, but I have a question nevertheless: How important is a man’s age for a serious relationship ? I’m talking about a woman in her early twenties with a man 15-20 years older. I’ve spent a lot of time in La Republica Dominica and Cuba (and Eastern Europe) and had good luck with younger women, but I’ve heard that Colombia is surprisingly age-conscious for a comparatively poor Latin American Country. Of course, any decent-looking older gringo with a little cash can meet a pretty girl in South America who’ll hang with him for a few days. But what are the chances that things could work out in the long run ? This question presupposes that both parties aren’t total losers to begin with…

Isn't it all about expectations? If she's expecting a gravy train (a.k.a. Sugar Daddy) and you're expecting to be said sugar daddy, then it could last a long time.

In general, problems can arise in a relationship, with a latina or any other person, when expectations fail to be met.

One thing about people in their twenties is their expectations of the world and the people in it are still evovling...generally much more quickly than those of someone in their 40s or 50s. So you run the risk of looking good to her now, but starting to pale to her later. You'll be getting older and her expectations will be getting higher.

If you're looking to always have the "latest model" in your showroom, IMO you should avoid marriage as the transaction costs to trade-up can become quite burdensome. If you just want a pretty-young-thing to be your trophy bride, then, again, I'd still avoid marriage and, at the very least, stay out of states/countries with strong community property laws.

Not a big issue. One of things that I had to get through my head was my self imposed age restrictions. I have a friend who is 300 yrs senior to his wife, married 5 yearr and both happy. Myself I'm also a bit older than my wife, and we've been together almost as long. See this often, and no it's not always about the money. If you're cool, and younger women are usually attracted to you anyways, you'll have no issue. -TNC

ok i think that personality is most important! i really think that some young colombian guys can be really immature sometimes, i for one always used to go for older men because what appeals to me is not just age and looks but personality and respect and experience of course! although most girls in colombia would go for older men to escape pressures in their house, to help their families out, and because it might help her get what she wants i.e studying, good clothes etc, lets face it in colombia most girls don't go for ugly old guys with no money if they do go for them it might be because these guys are way better in bed than the young unexperienced ones..

cremaster I don't have a low opinion of Colombianas at all! The above post was entirely inspired by the previous post written by a Mrs. Gomez, an authentic Colombiana. In that post she explained the reasons why a younger girl would go for a man much to her senior. Every reason she stated indicates a benefit or a gain for the girl from such relationship.
I don't have a low opinion of all gringos in Colombia either. Yes, there was a crowd in CaliGringo that somehow were able to bring out all the worst in me.

The crowd there received me with a brick in their hands and the hostility was almost unbearable. In the end I was invited to be one of the moderators there and that's when the site went down:)
Back to cremaster's post:

Why would I be one of the few females here who have a large number of female Coombian friends in real life; some of them I've had over a great number of years, if I didn't have a good opinion of them? I think the problem is that I see them as normal human beings, not some kind of goddesses, just sisters that have the same shortcomings and strengths as everybody else. Remember that I lived quite happily for 12 years in Colombia, met daily a good number of Colombians, both male and female, from equal premises. Many of the posters can't take a negative opinion about Colombianas because they idolize them. Well, I don't. I like Colombians, men and women, but that doesn't prevent me to see faults and weaknesses as much as I'm always there to point out the strengths and assets too.

I notice that hardly anyone is attacking you for wanting date young-uns. As for marrying-em, odds are against you, but like anything it'll always be a individual situation.

For example, women in their 20's (even in the US) tend to enjoy going out more, ie clubing, bars, etc., The younger they are the more they going out. If you're on vacation in COL or anywhere, keeping up w/ them is NOT a problem, because it's vacation for you. BUT i can't imagine doing going clubbing EVERY weekend. Which i used to do myself until 4 yrs ago.

Gold Diggers They have them in all countries. Keep your eyes open. Is a woman 20 years younger than you in the good ol USA interested in dating you? They will become Americanized very fast. If you are truly looking for a long lasting marriage I would narrow the gap a bit.

My wife is six years younger than me and looks 10-15 years younger than her age. She married me because I showed her a great deal of respect. Something she typically didn't get in South America. I still do. I don't have a great deal of money am pretty good looking a little fat and extremely charming and 47 years old.

There are no less than 15-20 of Angela's friends and aquaintances very envious of what she has got (She won't leave me alone with any of her female relatives). She had probably a hundred marriage offers while I was in Aruba dating her. I feel like I won one of those dating reality shows. I thank God for her every morning, I thank her mother for her, and I thank her, out loud verbally so she can hear me. Is she using me for a green card time will tell. I think not but you never truly know.

If she is she can be replaced. If she isn't she is irreplacable.

In the end you pays yo maoney and you takes yo chances; but , its a wonderful game isn't it.

Right now I’m planning a little “solo trip to Colombia but she’s hell bend on not letting me go alone and says “no way in hell you’re going to el Carnaval de Barranquilla with out me, a que? a mujeriar! usted es un viejo verde! un tipico corroncho con dolares que baila de putas, no way! las bandidas me comerian vivo, yo voy tambien! Now she wants to include her uninvited young ass in my trip. My master plan is to meet up with some of the guys from PBH and raise hell all over the northern Colombian coast. Middle age gringos gone wild, in Barranquilla y Cartagena. My cachaco friend, another old modefoque, just got back from a 3 month visit in Medellin; he went to furnish his brand new apartment in el poblado. He’s got a girl almost 30 years younger and is now ready to trade her in for newer model. He thinks is a crime for middle-aged guy with dollars to only have one girl, there are just too many. He went to a place in Medellin called “Phase 2 and could not stop talking about it, now I wanna go too.

I need to explain “bandidas .
Bandidas are girls who normally go for low life, drug dealers, criminals, scum bags, republicans, scammers, mujeriegos, etc. They usually dress like whores (but they’re not!) and hang out in groups in most bars and clubs. Those are the kind of women I seem to attract. I will admit, though I got that low life look going, in reality I’m a mild manner reporter for a great metropolitan TV station in NYC. In Barranquilla, Guajiros (my people) are feared for their very violent temper and underworld dealings, and an immediate reaction when people first see me is “ese hijueputa es un Guajiro! but I’m the exact apposite, as a matter of fact I’m a big softy who enjoys long walks down the beach hand in hand with my woman, naked! I got this thing about letting my balls hang freely, happily bouncing front side to side as they enjoy that heavenly ocean breeze in Puerto Colombia, or Salgar. I also enjoy romantic dinners, and there nothing more romantic than buying your very special other an empanada, caribañola and a cerveza Aguila, and sit or stand on the sidewalk of beautiful Barranquilla.

I reckon it depends Depends on what youre looking for i think. Just like everywhere else there is always somebody up for a bit of fun and if youve got the cash then brilliant. As for a serious relationship, yes I do believe Colombian girls tend to be a little bit more age conscious unless they see you as a one way ticket to the US...Careful there. But then again you find all sorts of people everywhere you go, try and give it a shot, it takes a while before getting serious.
Good luck.

I still deny having low opinion about people in general, too. Maybe the way I express myself just gives that impression, because I've given it some thought and frankly don't see it myself. I don't have any great expectations from people in general, not here nor there. I think you basically get the response that you deserve; all depends how much of yourself you put in a relationship (be it a friendship, a family relationship, a love relationship, a business relationship) is usually correalted to the "goodness" or "badness" of the people around you. I don't believe in instant relations; rather think that all relations need much work, more time and mountains of caring and empathy.

It's true what it's said about it depending on how much funds will be available. Yes, there are plenty of desperate women in Colombia. But, those desperate ones are at the bottom of the men desire meter. They are desperate for a reason. Notice that the pretty, elegant, well educated have plenty of choices. The last thing these group will choose is an old man having so many juicy male specimens. Another point is Colombian men. They, they have a way and what a way. I married an older gringo when I was in my teens. It wasn't love. It was a wise decision. I was used to a certain way of life that ended in my parents passing in an accident. A young Colombian couldn't have handle it. But I confess, I've had two affairs with Colombian men. One lasted six years and the other almost three. The way they touched me, whispered in my ear, made love to me. was something I never experience with any gringo (and I dated a few). You know, must try out the merchandize before you buy it! At the end I choose the comfort of my home and financial security. I think of them often and if given the chance to be with one of them for an hour, I would jump on it. Moral of the story? You have lots of competition my friend and you need ridiculous amounts of spendable cash. (money talks). Good luck.

I must make amends - both are right I prefer Chinook for grilling, my favorite way to eat salmon. It has a more hardy taste to it, and much more meat. Second best is Atlantic salmon, but needs a much more delicate preparation to maintain its flavor. The rest is just salmon. Here are some facts I found about the health value of salmon:

Salmon's omega-3 fats are good for your heart. In fact, the American Heart Association recommends eating fish, including higher-fat fish like salmon, twice weekly.

Chinook 196 11.4 1.6 Rich flavor,

Atlantic Salmon being of superior quality and delicate flavor fares well with a tender hand. Gravad lax, yes, but it's not weak, just delicate and subtle, cold or warm-smoked a real delicacy, broiled just to the point, with dill and salt, not too much, not too little. The Scandinavian lax soup is a rare delicacy. The secret with the lax is not overdoing it, since the fine, delicate flavor gets easily overwhelmed by too much seasoning and too much cooking. I think my overall favorite would be the warm-smoked lax on juniper bed.

About Elmo again, kid. Don't tell me that Elmo is your alter-ego. Or your imaginary friend, perhaps? You didn't get it. Oh...Forget it. Hey, kid, what's with the time? Is it PST, EST, what?

I have to agree with Desi 295 years diff is too much what the hell do they talk about anyway?

The power to pay bills and provide food, shelter and reasonably constant way of life that isnt impoverished, is a powerful aphrodisiac. It also helps if you have even a modicum of a personality and respect for people in general.

as said many times before, desire for a plain looking (even ugly)man who is older is not unique to Colombia or other south american countries. this is global, you just need to be richer in other places to score the chicks.

To score a cute chick 15 years younger in the U.S. it is roughly about $100,000 per 5 pounds of fat on an average man over age 35. If he is ugly, add very nice car, and if he has a small penis, then he needs to have several vacation homes around the world.

In Colombia, same guy only needs to have ooooooh about $5K in the bank and at least ACT like he can dance salsa.

Thought I was talking w/ Utopiacowboy. But thanks for the info. I found the postings of Elmo. I'm still trying to figure how to find a particular post. This site is a bit different than the others I post to. Be patient, I'll get it (eventually).
