U/cowboy

Is it necessary to buy a round trip ticket for my fiance? We are planning to marry two day after she arrived in the US. I have no problem with it eitherway but would like for the sake on knowing what is the right thing to do.
I know how the State department looks at it but not going back and having a ticket seems a waste os money given the time factor involved and most tickets are no good after 1 year. Just advice please/

It seems to me eveytime I check, it is cheaper to get a round trip than a one way anyway.

one way ticket or return I posted the same question on Visa Journey and the overwhelming response was you do not need a return ticket. However, if a return ticket is cheaper - do it! In my case the one way ticket is cheaper and that's what I am going to tell my fiance to do when she gets her visa. Good luck

Everywher I have traveled, a round trip ticket is cheaper, like pisgah2 posted.

Whatever is cheapest is the way to go. In our case RT tickets were cheaper and we just threw away the return ticket. The USCIS knows that the holder of a K visa is coming to the US to stay.

U/Cowboy Is there a set time frame that appointments are set at the embassy in bogota? By this I mean that when she gets all the paperwork back to the Embassy this coming week is there a certain time that appointments are set?

Intent of your fiancee If she is on a K-1 visa you will not need a return ticket. She will be (like) an immigrant and not required to depart.

If she is on a B1/B2 visa and planning to live in the US with you after the marriage, reconsider. She would be considered illigal since immigrating in not the purpose of the B1/B2 and if ask for a ticket and one is not presented she could be subject to more.....

I was thinking of the round-trip because of the price. Even an open return would be cheaper than the one-way. You know some time in the year she will want to go home to the folks.

The appointments for June have already been made. If she gets her stuff in now, they will give her an appointment in July. They usually do this by the 20th of the month.
