Typical Story-Man Meets Woman in Cali Bar ........

OK well maybe not so typical-this poor bastard posted this on the LP TT and I had to share it with everyone here.

Not sure if it's a troll or he's really off his head-you decide.

Spiked drinks w/drugs in Colombia? Burundanga/Escopolamina??

I have never touched drugs in my life. I suspect a girl possibly spiked my drink in Cali Colombia in Avenida Sexta on a Saturday night. Has anyone experienced their drink being spiked with some crazy street drug (toxic) that produced permanent/irreversible damage...(one time, one-hit, high dosage of some toxic street drug)??? Many Colombians tell me about "Escopolamina, Burundanga & Basuco" which criminals/prostitutes use to steal/rob. Anyone have any info on any drinks being spiked and producing and long-lasting permanent/irreversible affects? I have never felt the same since the incident.

I was traveling a few a 4 months in extremely hot/humid temperatures without air-conditioning and noticed my last week traveling getting very ill, weak, tired, no energy, continuously strange tingling sensations in the back of my neck and slight hallucination under the extremely hot weather & sun. Also was feeling like close to passing-out, I new something was not correct with my health and thought I may have some disease I picked up. I'm sure months of traveling & pushing myself day & night & took its toll, plus I was getting sick often by the food/water.
On a Saturday night I go to a restaurant/bar/nightclub in the heart of Cali Colombia Avenida Sexta & the waiter tells me this girls alone & her guy-friend did not show up, so I started chatting with her. We drink some beer then she orders a bottle of Colombian Rum (extremely strong) with a bottle of water. The Colombian Rum was very strong. (I’m not much of a drinker), She then tries to get me to go to another location which I decline. I attempt to convince her to go to a hotel that I know, but she insists on going to another hotel she knows. I have traveled extensively throughout the world and know better than to go to an unknown area with a stranger. Finally she goes to a hotel which I know. We arrive and she’s in bed and I’m ready for sex. Before we start she abrasively requests 80 mil pesos. I immediately get turned-off by her & her attitude and split home leaving her sleeping in the bed. (I did not know she was a working girl)
As soon as I got home I start having severe tachycardia...heart started pounding to almost a heart-attack, pale like a ghost, seconds from passing out, taking cold showers to not pass out, could not sleep, completely hyperventilating and hyperactive, I did not sleep, when I tried, my mind was racing/spinning out of control completely hallucinating and the most bizarre things in my head/mind. My head spinning/racing/hallucinating almost completely passing out. I drank allot of Rum but this felt much more than alcohol. A few mentioned the Rum could have been altered.
I cannot sleep & out of control, after about less than 1 hour woke up and felt totally different, everything looked different & I felt different. Scary & frightening, like something got messed up in my head. I felt different & looked at everything in a different manner. My pulse rate flying and for the next 3-4 days completely out of control hyperactive and could not stop. I was a nervous/frantic wreck. Felt like anytime would pass out and was completely pale like a ghost. I rushed back to the U.S.A and then it all got worse-started hallucinating for 1-week, pulse rate extremely fast over 130 for 1-week, heart racing, body tremors and shakes, muscle rigidity, pupils dilating, felt like I had a stroke, slurred speech, no coordination, felt drunk, completely detached from reality, pupils dilating, completely disconnected from reality, anxiety through the roof, ears/head started ringing/hissing continuously. Light outside hurt my eyes, felt like another person entirely, completely fucked up like a vegetable. Back of my head felt burning sensation which lasted for days and my pillow soaked in sweat. My head felt literally like it was going to crack open-explode. Thought I was on my death bed. After one week of this, things subsided then for months my upper arms felt like the inside was on fire, an intense burning sensation that I could not bare, strange bizarre sensations (like a knife stabbing/jabbing) throughout my body/face, constant agitation, itching, nervous, etc etc. A total wreck thought I was on my death bed, anxiety through the roof, ears started ringing/hissing constantly. This lasted a few months & I could not sleep for months.

This happened about over 7-8 months ago, but today still have NOT felt the same…. ears/head constantly ringing/hissing which drives me crazy at night-cannot sleep well, extreme agitation-always scratching/itching and sharp knife like jabbing sensations throughout my body/face, pains all throughout my body/face, extremely weak, chronic fatigue, light tremors, extremely nervous, paranoid and a complete nervous wreck. Everything changed that one night in Cali Colombia and I still don’t know what exactly happened to me. Could I have had a possible Heat Stroke?? Possibly the alcohol Colombia Rum was altered? Mixing Rum with beer? Mixing a Colombian (toxic) street drug w/heavy alcohol? Or did this girl spike my drink was some crazy toxic street drug? And if yes, can this produce permanent neurological/physical/mental damage? My whole life completely changed after his incident. Any words of wisdom, advice, opinions from anyone would be greatly appreciated. At this point I'm very desperate. Unfortunately I did not due blood work at a hospital when the incident took place, but 2-weeks after. Most Doctors have checked me out numerous times and say my blood chemistry is fine and most say I'm O.K. but don't feel O.K. I’ve had cat-scans of my head & O.K
I do realize I was somewhat going downhill a week before this incident took place. Also 1-month before I was in Cartagena having sex with a street girl. Next thing I know when I’m fucking her my condom slipped off. I freak out and go into complete panic thinking god-forbid this girl has HIV and may contract it to me. It took me in a tail spin & I was continuously seeking medical advice from Doctors on HIV in Cartagena . Took her to the hospital 2 twice to get HIV and thank god negative. But it still freaked me out and I was continuously unable to sleep well thinking & thinking about it. Not to mention my apartment had NO air-conditioning and I was continuously overheating, sweating, persperating, dehydrated, heat exhaustion…..not sure about Heat Stroke. Most Doctors say even If I did have a Heat Stroke I would recuperate in time. More to it than heat related.
So know I’m trying to get answers to what happened to me. Has anyone heard about these crazy criminal street drugs (Escopolamina, Burundanga, Basuco) being spiked in drinks and producing permanent damage to your system. Has anyone especially Colombians heard about this?? Could a street drug trigger a psychotic permanent damage? Did I have a Heat Stroke and the Rum pushed me over the edge? Alcohol poisoning? Mixing spiked Drug with heavy liquor? Simply anxiety related? Will I have permanent mental issues or is this something I can get through and be my usual high energy person I was before? Currently I’m a nervous/psychotic mess and all I can think is some fucked up Street Drug fucked me up for good.
After many months I still have the constant ringing/hissing in my ears/head, extreme aggitation, nerviousness, high anxiety, paranoid, can’t slow down/mind seems to be racing, need to take sleeping pills to sleep, do NOT feel the same mentally. Like another person. My biological sleep clock is off, difficult to get out of bed, feel miserable, crawling/tingling/jabbing sensations under my skin throughout all my body/face. A complete nervous wreck. Did a street drug do this to me? Did this girl spike my drink? With what? Did the drug tweak something in my head or do some sort of chemical imbalance?
I’m confused, before this incident I was the most calm, cool, collected, intelligent, successful, well traveled, well rounded, extremely health conscious-even made it to Mount Everest & trekked the Himalayas. Very well traveled. I’m a successful Cisco Networking Engineer in the Washington DC area & this incident has flipped my life entirely upside down. I’m a wreck and constantly thinking………..this girl spiked my drink in Cali Colombia with a fucked up street drug & I will never be the same 100% healthy person I was before. Any advice, opinions, suggestions, recommendations from well experience travel veterans would be greatly appreciated. I have traveled extensively all over the world numerous times and never had this experience. Please feel free to email me at l_guimmule at yahoo.com or contact my cell in Washington D.C. at 202 255 0279. Please let me know if anyone ever heard in Colombia about spiking of drinks? And if yes, do these drugs produce any permanent, irreversible damage? Any feedback greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It is my opinion.... ...Sam Salmon is sick. It would appear the man needs psychological help.
This is not to ridicule him but to suggest he or someone close convince him to seek such help. He needs an objective evaluation.

Not to worry Many Colombians tell me about "Escopolamina, Burundanga & Basuco" which criminals/prostitutes use to steal/rob.

Basuco is a harmless durative of cocaine,, the dregs of the bottom cut. Absolutely harmless, oh, it might have a high residual level of Gasoline or Sulfuric acid, but what the heck, fun is fun. You can mix it with tobacco, ie: you can have a prostitute slit the cigarette and re-roll it for you, they are experts at this.

or, if you don't smoke then what the heck, a little Mary-Jane and Basuco mix and you won't need to be robbed, you will gladly give your money away and within a few weeks you will wonder how you ever lived w/o it, the Basuco, not the money.

This is VERY popular in Medellin and very inexpensive; maybe 2 to 3 mill pesos for a cig. If folks think you are a gingo,, then expect to pay more.

So, this is NOT a "drug" to rob and steal, it is an example of how "legalized" drugs will be the salvation of the world.

PS: Caution, you could come into contact with a KILLER AVOCADO !!!

My girlfriends house has become a dangerous, maiming TRAP for the unwary (read: clueless, folks like Gringos.) This Avocado is hanging directly, (at eye level), in the middle of the sidewalk !!!! Someone could be injured !!!!!

Can you imagine having a clueless greedy bastard over for dinner and he BONKS his head on the damn thing,, he would probably get a lawyer and sue !!!! Not me but HER,, she thinks this is stupid,, but I've informed her things like this happen ALL THE TIME in the U.S. !!!

Well,, she won't cut it down until it becomes ripe. Dummy woman.

A true and scary escopolamina case While this guy is seemingly a head case. I recently had personal knowledge of a terrible Escopolamina case.

My fiance lives in Neiva. While I was there over New Years, a 3 year old child who lives across the street from her was given some spiked candy by a stranger on a motorcycle while playing in front of his house. The kid went into a seizure shortly thereafter and ended up in the pediatric ICU at the university hospital in Neiva.

My girl knows the family and I was there when the child's grandmother told us about the incident. As we were walking away, my novia told me that the lady's son had disappeared over a year ago while driving a cargo truck somewhere in the countryside. They assume he was kidnapped, but have heard nothing from him or any potential captors since. Some people really get more than their share of suffering.

Luckily the little boy seems to have recovered well and was out of the hospital several days later. Hopefully he won't have any lasting effects. It's bad enough when a criminal does this to rob someone, but you have to be a real piece of shit to pull this on a kid.

The "Lonely Planet Colombia" warns against the dangers of burundanga. I don't know how common it is, I never saw it. Scopolamine is a nervous system depressant and could certainly screw you up for a few days -- a 2003 Reuters report says there are hundreds of cases in Colombia each month. Basuco was all over the place in Medellin. I doubt SS is a troll. He had THE GIRL tested for HIV; he would need to wait about three months before his own test would be reliable. SS does seem to have some psychological issues.

My apologies to Sam Salmon for reading his original post too quickly. I am a Canadian doctor who has been to Colombia twice and has tried to learn about the culture. I think the story could have happened, and is unfortunate. No need to post it twenty times, and probably other stuff going on.

A serious post It actually sounds to me like the poor guy might have had dengue fever, from some of the physical symptoms. I'd also be curious to know if he was taking any meds, like any anti-malarials. I know someone who had really bad side effects from larium once.

And whatever it is, the guy is clearly just off his nut, too

Whatever it is, you don't start feeling weird a week BEFORE someone spikes your drink.
