Two Americans marry in colombia

My girlfriend and I are going to vacation in Colombia. If we decide to marry there what is the process, requirements, etc. We are both only US citizens.

Why? Why would you marry there if you're just going on vacation?

Based on my experience I would never marry in Colombia unless I was marrying a Colombiana. You must enjoy paperwork or tramites as they say.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

I know a Canadian couple who got married in the Dominican, and another who got married in Mexico. They wanted to be married in an exotic place, and where lured by the cost savings (which, after everything, was minimal)

Unless you want a huge hassle, you should seek a resort or another place that specializes in marrigages for Americans, Canadians, or Europeans ect... Such places exist in Mexico, Panama, Jamaca, DR, Costa Rica etc...

I don't know if such places exist in Colombia as they do in other country's resort towns. Be sure to research if, and how, you can get the marriage legalized in the US. Else, you may be off to Vegas to do it all over again.

Good luck, and congrats!!

The paper work is very hard to do. I was going to do it but the paper work turned me off to the idea.

Dominican Republic marriages... I believe the Dominican Republic offers no hazzle marriages (and divorces)! Colombia, on the other hand, is not a the same level. I mean, the level of difficulty is much higher!

Mucho papeleo!
