boat crossing from Panama to colombia at turbo. Are these boats big enough for motorcycles? I'm planning a motorcycle trip from Alaska to Argentina and wondering about the best way to cross into Colombia. How about cars ? one of our partners plans to take a toyota land crusier to carry supplies. Thanks for any info. Don

Cessi says on Jun 13, 2005, 18:18: too small for a car and a motorcycle Yes, the boats from Puerto Obaldia (Panama) to Capurganá (Colombia, from there you would have to take another boat down to Turbo) are motorboats but they aren´t big enough to bring a motorcycle and definetely not to bring a car. However about the safety reason, I almost always use this boarder crossing and I´ve never had a problem. It´s quite a lot of military around the area and between Capurganá and Sapzurro just next to the boarder there´s a military base. But as ColombiaBoard said, if you plan on bringing the motorcycle and a car then the boats to Cartagena are probably your only option.
