TUNJA Tunja is the capital of Boyaca, it's two and a half hour drive from Bogota (more or less). The city is about 3000 meters above sea level (almost 9,500 ft) so you may feel a bit dizzy if you're not used to those high altitudes.
The city has some of the most beautiful spanish colonial churches with amazing interiors and beautiful altars. The are some beautiful colonial houses specially in the downtown area and the main square is really nice.

If you're there don't miss a short visit to Villa de Leyva, a very well preserved colonial town.
