true supermarket horror story

My not so good spanish has let me down again i thought to myself,i`m sure my wife asked me to get a BAG of milk,you cant get milk in a bag,that would be ridiculous,a carton or a bottle of milk yeah,but a bag?i dont think so.Iset off to the local la14 supermarket and headed to the dairy products.Lo and behold there in front of me was a whole fridge full of bags of milk,next to a fridge full of bags of water.Laughing to myself i got what i needed,paid and made to leave.On the way out of la14 you have to walk past the perfumery counters which was staffed by about 10 gorgeous calenas who werent very busy,just watching people come and go.Better make a good impression i said to myself,so i sucked in my gut,puffed up my chest and adopted my best mysterious stranger look,just as i was walking past the girls i felt something moving on my forearm,i looked down and saw an enormous cockroach running up my arm and onto my chest.Screaming like a girl i threw my shopping up in the air and started frantically flapping at the beast finally dislodging it at neck level.It hit the floor and disappeared under some shelves of rice.Heart racing and sweat running,i looked up to the sound of laughter ,the gorgeous girls that werent laughing at me were stood there open mouthed and staring at the crazy gringo.I collected up my bags of milk and slunk out.I now do my shopping elsewhere and take my coffee black. QUESTION:How many posters on this site are in colombia?Most seem to be americans and ex pats in america

loved Bogota, Cali next! I'm moving from Miami to Colombia. Lived 30 years in NYC, 7 in Miami and now I'm making the real move to find happiness! I'll be posting more and more after my move next month.

I loved your story... you gotta practice staying calm around the hotties (I am guessing that's what "calenas" means). We Bronx boys learn young to keep our fear and shock well undercover. I always look cool but deadly.

Anyway my question was where is this store with the calenas? I'm bout to go try some cologne when I return to the COL.

quindioman says on Dec 18, 2005, 18:20:

rob calenas= females from Cali
paisas = people from medellin (and Antioquia)
Rolos = people from Bogota
ask elmodefoque about people from Barranquilla....he'll be more than happy to clear that one up for you....

You guys don't have those big cucarachas? When one of my kids was a baby crawling on the floor, he saw one grabbed it and ate it before I could do anything.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.
