I am going to Colombia in June - mostly to Medellín, but I am planning to go to Leticia for a week or so. Is it possible to go spontaneously, or do the plane tickets have to be booked well in advance? As far as I could figure out, only Aerorepública seems to fly there. On their website, it is possible to find flights and fares from Bogotá to Leticia, but not the other way round! Why would that be? Could it be booked out all through June?? - I am not sure about the dates of my trip so I can't do any advance booking. I was thinking of going to a travel agency once I'm in Medellín (that would be about a week or two before the actual trip to Leticia) - does anybody know if that'll be early enough? I'm looking forward to any advice you can give me (about booking and any other topic relevant for a trip to Leticia)!!!

expatriate says on May 15, 2005, 05:06: I can almost guarantee ..that if you just go to a travel agent once you are in Medellin you can get a ticket for the day you want. LAX to Honolulu may require advance reservations, but Medellin to Leticia is not as popular. In a nation ruled by swine, all pigs are upwardly mobile. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

ColombiaBoard says on May 15, 2005, 09:01: Leticia Don´t worry, wait until you´re in Medellin and then go to a travel agency, there are many but I suggest you go only to those located in large Malls, don´t go to a little travel agency on some downtown street.

kiwi says on May 18, 2005, 14:31: I`m in Leticia right now Arrived a week ago, just got back from hiking in the jungle, fantastic but I`m shattered from the heat. I booked my flight in Medellin on a Thurs and flew on the following Wed, note there are no flights on Tue or Thur and yes Aerorepublica is the only carrier servicing Leticia, all flights go via Bogota. Medellin-Bogota-Leticia return will set u back $700,000 Col pesos incl all taxes. I was supposed to fly back today but extended my stay another week, I love the place. Was in bed this morning when I heard my flight leave overhead at 11:30am, rolled over the went back to sleep...I`ll post some pics when I get them downloaded. If u want to hook up with a great guide I can recommend 100% the guy I was referred to. Just spent 6 days on a tour with him. His name is Juancho, cell is 3112066341. He`s Costeño but has been here years. I would trust this guy with my life, we went everywhere and he went out of his way to make sure I was happy, got the best photos, saw all the animals possible etc. I paid $1`850,000 Col pesos which included everything for the 6 days 5 nights. I bought a box of beer for the boat that was about it. And he let me bring my gf and her friend for 2 days at no extra cost.
