Not just the Colombiana's. Anybody do any metal detecting in Colombia? I know about the Dangers, but was interested, none the less. Madre de Oro!

Robert Jorge says on Jun 3, 2007, 23:02: Bufalo, you would know a lot more than me, so I will admit to being ignorant and/or misinformed. But, I have heard from government sources that the exporting of Colombian antiquities is strictly forbidden. Even the little documents you fill out on the plane ask if you are importing or exporting antiquities - and state how that is NOT allowed. I guess if I was to find an Indian gold necklace that was 1000 years old in Colombia, it would be no problem for me to put it in my carry-on and just go back to the US with my treasure? Buongone says on Jun 4, 2007, 01:10: Land mines After doing some research I came across an article, that said Colombia was thrid in line behind Iraq, and Cambodia, for land mines crippling people. That don't sound to cool. Like Tinto said would have to check it out thourghly. Don't want to get blown up.

lpdiver says on Jun 4, 2007, 02:43: Heck...half the 500 peso coins I get are counterfiet anyway! Sheesh the most embarrassed I ever been was when I had the bano attendant at el centro in Medellin chase me down for giving her a bad coin. Gave her $5,000 pesos! still a bargain.
