Travelling from LA to Cali

Well, i've decided im spending my winter in warm Cali instead of staying in Miserable freezing nyc.

Has anyone travelled from CA all the way down to Cali and do you recommend it?

Not from California but from Texas and Florida. Act normal, keep your money in your POCKET dont act rich and flashy and most of all Have fun in a beautiful city filled with a lot of very nice people.

Through Central America???!! Wow... that would an adventure. It doesn't sound too safe especially going through the Panama/Colombian border due to the guerrilla action going on there right now.

But it sure sounds exciting.

Hola!

Getting alll the way down to Cali from California would be too tiring for me! I spent 3 weeks on the road as a kid going to California from Illinois. It got tiring!

Well Colombians come in all colors and races, so go ahead if you have a particular look you're going for.

I've travelled several times from New York to Las Vegas and it's just too much, especially when you start driving through Kansas. That has to be the most boring state I've ever seen in my life.

I had a friend who wanted to travel from Texas to Rio for Spring Break once. I asked him "Rio??? De Janeiro??". After he answered with a firm "Yes", I busted out laughing. Needless to say, he decided to go to Mexico for Spring Break once he found out how long it would take to get all the way down to Rio. =D

You are talking about driving?

Trying to drive through The Darien and crossing the border from Panamá into Colombia would be suicidal.

You realize that is the break in the Panamerican highway? It's jungle, and full of FARC, on both sides of the border..

Send your vehicle by sea from Panama City to Cartagena (also it's only a 50 minute flight).

But even the frontier between Costa Rica & Panamá can be a bit scary.
