Traveling from Cartagena to Mompox

I would like to travel from Cartagena to Mompox and stay overnight the first week of July. What are my travel options and do I need to make a reservation in advance? Are there any good lodging options in Mompox that are not too expensive? I heard about a hostel but can't find any info, does anyone have contact info on it? Thanks.

Do A Search On PBH I did a long post on this six-seven months ago via Cartagena. Not an easy trip.
