Why would you carry travellers' checks? If you're still in the US, i would re-cash them and deposit it back in your bank acc't and use ATM card. Also, Cali has two citibank branches, so if you use citibank in the US, you can use citibank in Cali and NOT get charge ATM fees.

Traveller's check dollar-to-peso conversion is NOT as good as ATM, so you'll be losing MORE percentages in cali. If you're in Cali now, we'll can't help you, but i would go to a bank in cali and ask.

A REAL PIA and the exchange rate is not as good as an ATM. On caveat-tell your bank where you are going to prevent a security hold on the account. If you need security get five twenties and took them away and cash in when you return to the USA
