Travel To Meet Colombian Friend. (Bogota)

Hey!

I am a 21 yr old Canadian, and i'm going to Bogota in June to visit my friend.
She was once an Exchange student through universities, so thats how i met her.
Anywayz,

Ive done some research but not much.
Im not really that worried to go there, for as i will be there and wont do anything or go any place i shouldnt.

Some hotels seem like 150$ a night, when i hear I can get one for atleast 50$. I know cabs are cheap and not to worried there..
but i stay in bogota for 1 week then i want to book a trip to San andres from bogota for 1 week (for 2 people)

What would this cost? for flight and hotel does anyone know?

also.. from airport like 30 minutes into bogota, what is US$ Amount?

Thanks a ton for any replies!!

Easy Check your spelling, then your grammar. Then ask you dad if you can be allowed out on your own.

21? university? Cheesh!!

do a search on this site for hotels in BOG.. there's tons of thread on this subject, with prices from $20USD and up. Just ask your friend, she can call around for you, she knows the area and will put you in a good, safe, economical one.

Hi Jordan,

Ive been living in Bogota off and on for over a year now. Im australian and my new hubby is colombian, if you need somewhere to stay and the area Modellia is O.K for you, it is in the west and is not far from most central areas by bus.

Then my husbands mother and her family rent a room to foriegners, because they live near the american embassy. They are very nice and honset people. The house has just been renovated and the room has its own bathroom and linen included ect. They want 50,000 pesos a night and that includes breakfast.

1/2 that 50,000pesos and thats about 25,000 USD a night not too bad!
She does laundry and will give you your privacy ect.

If your interested P.M me-
cheers

A room. I'm sure whe will now what's afforadble and safe near her place, to avoid a long busride every day. Makes me wonder though why she doesn't offer you a room, but never mind that.
For a trip to San Andres you can estimate from 800.000 to 1.100.000 COP per person (all in or breakfast/dinner: 3 or 4 days). To give you an idea: www.despegar.com.co But in Bogotá you (or she) would probably go to an agency to see what's available.

Room in Bogota Hello:
I saw a post noting that you may be staying in Bogota for awhile. I have a great place where you can stay really cheap. A beautiful 3 bedroom apartment. We have rooms there that we rent out. None are taken for June so you would have the run of the entire apartment. This is a brand new apartment in a brand new apartment building. Finished in February of 2006. It is fully furnished, hot water etc. There is a balcony off the dinning room and one in the master bedroom. It comes with cable tv and cable high speed internet. I noticed that some rooms rent for around 22 a night (US). Two of the furnishedrooms rent for $140 per week ($20 a night). The master bedroom rents for $160 a week (23 a night). You can get your breakfast nearby for $2. Often, the other rooms are not rented so you have the run of the apartment. You also have access to the banquet room. You just have to reseerve it. The banquet room has a door leading on to the second floor which has a bbq. The apartment is on the 6th floor and provides you with a panoramic view of the mountains. It has 24/7 security. It is located near Saltre Plaza...about a brisk 15 minute walk.
