Travel to Bogota

A question to throw out there to you all; any suggestions on airlines preferences flying from the west coast of the United States to Bogota? or is there a better "gateway" city, in colombia, to fly into and then catch a domestic flight to Bogota?

Airfare is getting crazy expensive!!!

Hi,
Mexicana airlines had/has been running some reasonable rates, for a long time this past winter they were undercutting the other airlines by about 20 percent. Although their prices have risen now they would still be worth monitoring.
Good luck

Where on the west coast? Avianca has a direct flight from Los Angeles to Bogota. Leaves late at night and arrives Bogota at like 6:00 A.M.

I would check www.sidestep.com and hotwire for lowest fares. Delta codeshares with Avianca to get to LAX. American and Continental via Miami and Houston. Spirit from Fort Lauderdale but how do you get to Fort Lauderdale on Spirit from west coast?

Avianca/Delta all the way to Brazil maybe your best bet?

Usually Bogotá is best. you might check LAX to MIA then fly from MIA to Colombia.

A little tip-ALWAY call the airline direct to see if they have a better deal.

There are a few sayings that I learned as a kid that I can still remember. One is: "A bartender ALWAYS gets paid what he thinks he deserves." And the other is: "NEVER do business with family."

A guy I used to be friends with bought 2 soft serve ice cream machines to start a small business in Villavicencio. They were the big, commercial size, stainless steel things you would see in a restaraunt here in the US. He spent thousands. His intentions were to set up a little ice cream shop in Villavo and let his family take care of the business to earn a living. 6 years later, he still has the machines collecting dust in storage in the US. His family wasn't interested after they realized it involved work.

Amazing after you read an insider's post like Elmos yet you still get these Pie in the Sky Rubes who have these Lofty ideas that they will sally forth in Col and set up an Internet or Restuarant Business with the Wife's family running the show! And lose everything a few months later. What did PJ Barnum the Carny Huckster say "A Fool is born every minute" LOL Never more true then here!
