Travel Insurance For Colombian Going To U.S.

I want to buy some travel insurance for my fiance, who is coming to America with me.

But everywhere we've called only offers $20,000 worth of coverage (for ridiculous prices, too!) As you know, $20,000 in the U.S. -- if you get hit by a bus-- will last about 3 days.

I want to get coverage for 6 months-- at least long enough to get regular medical insurance for her in the States.

Can anybody recommend travel insurance for her that will cover around 2 million? (Or at least coverage better than I've been getting!)

and the pre medical underwriting investigation can take 4 to 8 weeks.

if you are in Florida, you may try a company called Avalon. they will take foriegn nationals without social security numbers, and their underwriting period is usually less than one month for a young healthy individual.

There is a company, Travel Assist or something like that, they sell at the airport and I recommend it, my family has bought their insurance every time they have travelled from Colombia to the US, In fact 10 years ago, my mother died while visiting me in Washington, and she had purchased insurance, they covered everything. I think they are still in business, I saw their counter last time I was in Colombia (October 2007).
