travel and living abroad while waiting for visa

Hello, i live in the states and my fiance and i are waiting for our k-1 visa. Is it ok to live in colombia for a couple months while we are waiting for the visa? Also, i have one child that would come live with us and there is no problem getting the fathers consent. How could i find more info. and facts on how to do this? Thank You

Who is the US Citizen?

1. Check the US Embassy, Bogotá, web page or visit www.visajourney.com.
2. "i have one child that would come live with us..." Yes, any child/children under the age of
21 can accompany the parent to the USA as long as the child has not turned 21 prior to
the interview at the U.S. Consulate, Bogotá. Your child or K-1 applicant's child?
3. A little vague, but I assume you mean is it O.K. for YOU to be in county while waiting for the
visa? Answer: yes.
4. Bad news is it will take more than a couple of months for the visa-I would figure six/eight
months wait.

NOA1: Notice of action 1 (means the first notice after you send in your visa application). It is a receipt of your application. Usually it takes from one week to one month.

Next, if all is OK, is a NOA2:Notice of action 2 ( approval letter). It is the approval in written for your case. You might want to keep that notice for future reference. The NOA2: Notice of approval. That means your visa application has been approved by USCIS.

Shortly after that, your case will be transferred to NVC (National Visa Center) for background check. And once that process is done, the entire package will be sent to your fiane(e)'s embassy in Bogotá to arrange an interview date.

You do not need to do anything amount this matter. You can, however, start to collect evidences to prepare the up coming interview for your fiance in Bogotá. At this point the ball will be in his court. There is no requirement for YOU be interviewed unless a direct request for such a step is made..

Remember the US Embassy Bogotá is the one who will issue the K-1 visa. NVC sends the entire package to Bogotá for further action. To see what is in store for you/him go to www.visajourney.com
