hi,
does anybody know if I can get flights to cuba from cartagena? Are there any travel agents I can go to which arrange the whole thing for me? Don´t really want to have to come back to Bogota to catch a flight!
cheers
Andy

el flaco says on Jun 26, 2008, 02:01: There's a direct flight Havana to Bogota with Cubana. I flew to Bogota from London via Havana with Cubana, I paid the normal fare to Havana and then a much reduced fare to Bogota. The flights don't connect and you pay a fortune on entry and exit fees but i did get to meet my Cuban chums.

petrovern says on Jun 26, 2008, 09:59: In Dec 2007 I booked my own flights directly with Air Canada and Copa. I was flying Vancouver to Toronto direct, change planes in TO then direct to Cuba, Habana with Air Canada $1100.00 Canadian return including at fees and taxes. Change flights and airlines in Cuba requires exit tax $25.00 Canadian /-, Copa to Panama and spend the night in Panama (sightseeing the next day with cab) then direct flight to Barranquilla, $500.00 /- Canadian return Habana-Barranquilla. On the return flight I spent 1 night in Habana and sight seeing by cab before flight back to Canada. Total $1600.00, but remember this was Dec 16 to Dec 31, expensive time to travel. I am traveling July 8 to 22 2008 with Mexicana and aerolinas Republica Vancouver to Barranquilla via Mexico City and Bogota return for $1250.00 including taxes and fees using Cheapo Air to book. I like to sightsee on the way to and from a bit, it might cost a couple of 100 more, but I find it useful to scope out future trips this way before committing to a full vacation and get a feel for the place. Also stay away from the Panama international airport if possible, it was a nightmare. Once through security and in the "gates" waiting area there is a huge mall, looks great at first, BUT then I went looking for a coffee or water YIKES!!!!!! I walked for 1/2 an hour from 1 end and back and found 1 overcrowded dumpy smoky greasy-spoon cafe and two hotdog carts (1 at each end of the airport with the cafe closer to the south end. All you could buy in the shops were electronics, clothes, luggage, perfume, liquor and M&M's, a hundred bloody shops and just repeat after repeat of this crap. NOT EVEN A NEWS STAND AAAAUUUURRGGGG!!!!!!! I was sooooooo choked. Everything looked great but useless. Then the kicker, one poor sod bought a flat screen TV at one of the electronics shops and they wouldn't let him on the plane with it, and he couldn't return it or he would have missed his flight. So he had to leave it at the boarding gate. He kept saying the shop workers said he could bring it on board, but to no avail; I wonder how often that happens? Andy S says on Jun 29, 2008, 16:09: hey guys, yeah I know you can fly from Cuba direct to DR....$490 from BOG to HAV is from the COPA website, and includes taxes...I´`m not really bothered about long flights via panama city, if the price is right then I don´t really care...have done twelve 20hr bus journeys now so a 4 hour flight will seem like heaven! don´t need to worry about the passport being stamped either as I´m not from the US.....dunno when I´ll book it though......cartagena is looking pretty good right now!

Cheers Terry says on Jun 29, 2008, 22:14: I just flew Cartagena to Havana for $410 USD including all taxes on Copa. I've done this flight several times. Normal full-pop rate is about $510 USD for a one way. Flights are every day, with two on Fridays and Sundays I believe. Copa is straightforward, no worries.
