ColombianoX says on May 18, 2005, 12:21: This is really despicable and is sad proof that discrimination against Colombia is alive and well. It's disconcerting to see that in this day and age, there are companies who would try to make a profit at the expense of insulting an entire nation. I will write them to express my outrage over this tasteless product and urge other colombians and friends of Colombia to also do so. I certainly won't be shopping at their stores or wear their clothes anymore. ColombianoX 'Defensor de la Colombianidad' 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

elmodefoque says on May 19, 2005, 05:20: Guys, please put me down for 2 GUESS t-shirts, my gringo buddy at work wants one too. I see Italians here walking around with t-shirts of the SOPRANOS and yesterday on 60 Minutes II they did an entire segment on how great, cool and loved the “sopranos” are. The Gotti’s is also a very popular show. I think the Escobar’s would be far more interesting than those nickel and dime hoods. And I don’t think Escobar’s kids could be nearly as stupid as the Gotti boys, those guys are a real version of “dumb and dumber”, they actually have to put captions to understand what the hell they’re saying, and they were born and raised in Long Island, NY, USA. elmodefoque says on May 19, 2005, 09:58: For those insulted by guess t-shirts, café de Colombia has nice t-shirts of Juan Valdez and his damn donkey. That’s a nice image of Colombia, a FREAKING DONKEY, then you get upset when a gringo asks you if you have roads or cars in Colombia. Maybe I should walk around all over Manhattan with a picture of me having sex with my burra. PROUD ENEMY OF THE RIGHT WING!!!!!! THANK YOU! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

elmodefoque says on May 19, 2005, 12:16: Yeah, let’s get rid of that awful imagine of Colombian being notorious drug lords, we all know that’s a pack of lies, there are no drugs cartel in Colombia, is all fiction, just like nobody there eats arepa with agua de panela. The fact is that many families in Colombia have a family member directly or indirectly involved with the drug trade. There’s always that cousin doing time in USA or maybe your father’s cousin’s son got busted coming into Madrid or Brazil with either money or material. That my friend is a fact. I myself know a handful of family members, one doing time in some hell hole called Foz do Iguacu, Brazil, and the other sweating bricks in Santo Domingo, while the others are doing quite nice, lucky bastards,! I hope they get caught. Why should I be the one busting my ass at work while they’re over there banging 2 or 3 young barranquillera at the same time and drinking Don Perione. Miguel says on May 19, 2005, 12:51: C'mon CO X This is ELMO talking. You know the drill, mi hermano. On the other hand, as a result of this thread, you know I posted a direct link to the customer service department at Guess, because I was offended by it like you were. FYI, I sent a complaint letter and they attempted to reply, but the file type, when I opened it, was all HTML gibberish (dos veces) At least it seems that they replied with success to others and maybe this "fashion statement" will go away. Truly a great example of poor taste. Kinda like that s`it President Fox of Mexico spouted last week.

quindioman says on May 19, 2005, 13:37: elmo's right he said "most families" not all families...and i would agree with demodefoque too...as a young teenager i would see my parents had plenty of acquaintances...once i stumbled into the living room and saw a shit load of money but never really thought about it...my mother told me what happened in those days (their friends used to be drug runners and made a bit)....my parents were always anti drugs however and they always rejected the countless offers being made their way...as a teenager in London my best friend (a rolo) introduced me to his family - his mum had done some time in a jail in Holland, his cousins had done a lot of time all over the gaff but they treated me spot on....thankfully i was never that impressed with the lyfestyle (much less now) and I know a lot of people doing porridge for trying to make money quicker than conventional means allow....but at the same time every month i hear another sonamanbiche getting locked up...my rolo friend has been doing time for 3 years....countless other colombians i have known directly or indirectly linked to the drugs game.....damn i just thought of another real close friend i had from Armenia...he ain'y locked up but he's on the run......so sorry to all these colombian that are in denial over this issue.....just accept that colombia is a fertile land to grow cocaine and there will always be some desperate sonamabiche trying to emulate Pablo or some other narco...como dice la cancion si te caen limones....aprenda hacer limonada

elmodefoque says on May 19, 2005, 15:10: Late 60’s New York City. A little Indian kid from Barranquillal who grew up riding burros finally escaped that disgusting poverty and lands in NYC. He thought that he will never ever see another burro for the rest of life. Wrong!!! That kid was me. During those days el exigente and Juan Valdez with his f---king damn burro were the only things that gringo’s knew about Colombia. The first question was always, where did you parked your burro, “lo parquie en la casa de tu maldita madre que te cago gran hijueputa” I did not be talking good English then, so I be cursing everybody in Barranquillero. Needles to say the fight was on. After many years of sometimes kicking ass and other times getting my ass kicked because of that freaking stereotype things began to change when Colombians started getting fame for bringing in the best grass around, straight from Santa Marta, and many of my people in La Guajira began making nice mula. Those girls that once made fun of me and my donkeys now found me more interesting and wanted me to get them high. Late 70’s Colombians started moving “perico”, now, I could not keep up with all the women that wanted to jump my bones only because I was Colombian and assumed I could get the best stuff in the city. Colombians were no longer the butt of jokes but respected by all. While other South Americans, big nose Argentineans/Uruguayans, insignificant Venezuelans, little Ecuadorians/Peruanos etc, had to stand on line hopping to get in Studio 54, me and a number of my Colombian buddies were ushered right in. elmodefoque says on May 20, 2005, 05:19: Why should we care about corruption in Colombia? who cares if the “white mafia” (Colombia’s elitist ruling class) continues to steal, plunder all the money and live high off the hog while ¾ of the population lives in poverty. Sick kids (of course mostly black, mulatto or Indian) with no chance to see a doctor and living in shanty towns , what? Did you say SHANTY towns? Yes, I did!! Next time on your way to party in Cartagena, just before the plane lands, look out the window al pie de la Popa , you’ll see thousands of people living on a cliff in homes (homes jejejej) made of cardboard and pieces of sticks, you may asked yourself how the hell can those poor black bastards walk on that cliff with out breaking their neck. I could show you one day, I lived in place just like that near Rioacha, in the day time is ok, but at nigh, pitch black, when I went out to find a place to take a dump, I busted my ass many times. Never mind going to school, those kids dad is already training his kids the art of selling loteria, and tinto in the street. His life will be just like his dad, one depressing waste but who cares, what we really need to concentrate our anger is at those awful dreaded drug dealers; they are giving us holier than thao Colombians a bad name.
