Translation Help

Hi all,

I am translating my Colombian marriage certificate and have run into a few terms that I understand, but I am not sure of the best translation. Here are the terms along with my preliminary translations. If anyone knows the correct terms for any of these, please post them.

Thanks a lot,
CG

Corregimiento - Precinct

Inspeccion de Policia - Police Station

Escritura de Protocolizacion - ????

Indicativo Serial - Serial Number

Providencias - Rulings

Tipo de Providencia - Type of ruling

Capitulaciones Matrimoniales - Marriage Settlements

mac,

Thanks, but that doesn't sound right.

The section of the certificate in question is Documento que acredita el matrimonio
and under Tipo de Documento the choices are Acta Religiosa and Escritura de Protocolizacion.

It sounds almost like a marriage license or something along those lines.

Peace,
CG

Corregimiento - Precinct (a corregimiento is like an office of a mayor or magistrate)

Inspeccion de Policia - Police Station (correct)

Escritura de Protocolizacion - ???? (original copy from a notary)

Indicativo Serial - Serial Number (Correct)

Providencias - Rulings (Correct closer probably would be judicial decisions or regulations)

Tipo de Providencia - Type of ruling (Correct)

"Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" .

Police station will be translated as "estacion de plicia", but I am not colombian. I am from Cuba. Also I would translate "serial number" as "numero de serie", and of this I am sure since I studied Math both here in the US and in my country.

Certificate of birth will be translated as "certificado de nacimiento". If I think of any other, I will post them here.

God, I hope I am never arrested by the "plicia."
