Transit Visas

Hello i'm new to this forum, so please be kind to me! i found this forum very useful and i was wandering if you could tell me about transit visas to spain, I am a british citizen married to a Colombian guy, we want to go to Colombia but the British Airways no longer flies to Bogota, the cheapest flights we could get are from London- Madrid Madrid-Bogota, therefore we need to change planes in madrid, does my husband require a transit visa to change planes in Spain? he has a colombian passport with full british residensy, and we are no changing terminals in spain either, this is our first time to Colombia together and we need to know if he needs a transit visa. i have a british passport so i don't need a visa but what about my husband? we are not changing terminals or leaving the airport and he does have a full residensy stamp on his passport ie. Indefinate leave to remain which means he lives in the UK and can go and come back whenever he likes. if any of you know or have been through this please let me know. Muchas Gracias

Also in a similar situation Hi guys, I am new to the forum and in a similar situation (thanks British Airways.........).

I am married to a Colombian woman who was has been granted a resident/settlement visa (Entry Clearance) by the English embassy in Bogota. She intends to come to England by connecting at Madrid in May.
The Spanish embassy in Bogota has told her she needs a transit visa just to connect flights in Madrid; but this is not consistent with what I have researched and is also not consistent with the "Schengen" country transit "rules" for a Colombian citizen.
Any other opinions??

My brother-in-law came to join my sister here in the UK with an Avianca flight Bogota-Madrid, from there he took an Iberia flight into the UK. He did not need a Schengen visa, you just take the bus into the terminal and instead of going through immigration you just go upstairs through "transito" and connecting flights and find the respective gate, go through security and re-enter the terminal.
