transit visa (EU) for colombians

hello there

i wonder if any of you colombians have traveled to an east european country that is not part of schengen, taking the airplane from colombia to any schengen country, and then from there a local airline to final destination. to be precise: how is the possibility to get a transit visa by enterning EU in barcelona, taking a plane i.e. ryan air to venice. i know this sounds crazy but since im only a few hours by car from venice is it possible to exit the airport and continue by car. the destination is croatia. i would like to hear expiriences since most east european countries have quite complicated conection with main EU cities.(for examle its not possible to travel over paris to zagreb without staying over night in paris, so transit visa is required)
how difficult is it to get such visa in spain by means that they will trust youll leave spain with next plane(you have the ticket only, but in other company, and you have the croatian visa in passport). the problems with croatian visa is fixed. i contacted them and i have to guarantee for that person. any info on expirience traveling in schengen is worth. specially, im interested if someone traveled by car with transit visas. im desperate, i just want her here :((((( and its so bloody expensive to fly with airfrance, more than 3million pesos.

thanks

it depends... as a Colombian you won't need a transit visa to travel to any european union city as long as you don't leave the airport international area, which means you won't be able to go through imigration. if what you want is to travel by car you will indeed need a visa for the schengen country(ies) which may be to much hasle to get as well as very expensive.
my advice is that if you are not going to spend enough time in a schengen country, it is not worth it and you will be better off paying a bit more for your ticket to your final destination.
besides eastern europe is much cheaper as well as more welcoming.
good luck

i think i got a picture, so the best option seems to fly to a major EU city and from there to zagreb. a little more money but no troubles and loosing nerves. :)
is your wife a typical colombiana, maybe costena? i hope she liked croatia, because i hope that for my gf, but im aware of the difference in culture. was same for me when i was in colombia, a cultural shock. jeje.
thanks for the infos.

colombiano in eu (slo) Hola Gamin!
Here is my experience about colombiano traveling to Slovenia. At the time of travel,we lived in Vancouver(BC).My bf had to ask for visa to Slo at the consulate. To get a tourist visa wasn't a big problem, as long as you show them that you will return. The second time was alot easyer. Same problem was with the flights. The cheapest fare was to Frankfurt and i could pick him up there, but there is no way you can do that unless you have a Schengen visa. It takes time to get it and lots of paper work. I recomend you, that she buys a ticket directly to Zagreb. It is not a big deal to stay at the airport and wait for few hours. The money you will spent on additional visa and the cost of picking her up at Venice or somewhere else is the same as the air fare to Zagreb.
I am pretty sure she will like Croatia. The cultural schock as you say...is alot worst coming to Col, then for them to go to Eu.
Good luck!
