transferring money

I am setting up a business in Bogota. What is the best bank for transferring money from accounts in the US to Colombia and vice-versa. I used to use Citibank in Chile, but they acted like they weren't the same companyinboth countries and imposed all kinds of transaction fees on money transfers. Any suggestions?

Probably the Mill Por Cuatro Which Is... a Financial Transactions Tax A tax on financial transactions involving checking and savings account deposits as well as cashier’s checks. Transfers between checking and savings accounts at the same financial institution and belonging to a single person or entity are exempt. By Decree the 0.4% is from 2004 through 2007. As of 2008, the rate will be reduced to 0.3% (we shall see).

ok,i just got off the phone with my Attorney She says that the reason she charges the 4% fee is because she has to declare/justify/report the funds. She also says not just anyone can receive a 20k transfer. The account of the person on the receiving end needs to be abilitated to receive that amount of money and show credebility. She says if these steps are not followed that the Dian can implicate you for many reasons.

arthur you don't need a lawyer the guys at my bank have good knowledge of the laws and they tells what forms and what letters are required for such a transaction....I bought our lot 3 years ago and transferred $25,000 can no problem and I didn't pay any 4% lets see 25,000X 4%
1,000 bucks like almost 2 million to a lawyer...yea right that will be the day I pay 2 million to a lawyer...sorry G5 ...sorry arthur but thats a lot of money here in colombia ...still sounds like you got took man

$ transfer my bro in law didnt have to be "abilitated",he only had to show his cedula i.d. and recieved the money without any problem....implanning on sending more the same way.
sounds as if the lawyer has to "declare" the money for her own personal reasons(and gain) to me.....

I just used WU for the first time... I had to send a deposit on my apartment. I was amazed at how easy it was and not too expensive either!

Arthur.. That is about right. It was a little less but, not much. I thought that it would be more and also, I was not sending very much money.
I just figured that since it was international, it would be a lot more.
