Tourist visa or temporal residense? visa de turista

Hi, I was wondering if someone has any experience bringing a family member from Colombia to Canada. I know the tourist visa is more like getting a temporal residense.
Since I support her economically, would I need to send my papers from work, bank statements, etc,??

Mucha suerte.

My friends brother was illegal in the USA and applied and obtained a visa to be in Canada. The visa for Canada appears to be much more open thatn the visa for the USA. i do not believe that you would ahve problemas but submit all the papers that you can to prove that you can support her.

this is not true a tourist visa is for temporary period of stay in Canada can be up to 6 months
the easiest route is marriage and apply to sponsor your new wife

I attempted to bring the sister-in-law to Canada for some English study. No chance! Her father submitted bank accounts for supporting her and $4000 was paid for tution...but no visa.

I did an "access to information act" search to find out why she was turned down. "Not enough ties to Colombia".

From the information you wrote above, I already see "Denied" on your family member's visa application. You need to have a very good reason why she will return to Colombia after her visit to Canada. Perhaps if applicant has a spouse or a minor child that remains in Colombia would be reason enough to return home.

Yes, I see what you mean about having enough ties to Colombia. I would have to come out with a very good reason. My mom is 53 years old and I don't see the embassy thinking about her wanting to stay longer in Canada on the other hand your-sister-in-law is a young lady who may want to stay longer??

Well anyway thanks it is a good point that you are giving me.
