Tourist Visa for Germany

Hello everyone,
I live in Germany and like to invite my colombian girlfriend to visit me. She will need a so called "Schengen-Visa" as tourist. The embassy is not that cooperative so I hope someone here has some experience with this. What kind of papers do I need to prepare and who do I need to send it to (straight to the german embassy in Bogota?)?

Thanks a lot for any helpful informations.

ask for a visitor visa Hello,

All you have to do is send her the Einladung (invitation) and a "Verpflichtungserklärung" you ask for at the "foreign office" in Germany. Make sure it lasts for three months so you ask for it at the right time.

She has to show that she is coming back to Colombia. She can show she has a good job. She can also show a paid receipt of her next semester at the University, a recommendation letter of a German personality...all that can prove she is interested in coming back to Colombia.

I got all the papers done and I got it last year!

She can get all the requirements at the embassy or consulate! Good luck!

Visitor Visa for Germany Hi again,
let´s say I want to invite her for Christmas in Germany, I would need to wait until September before I could make a Verpflichtungserklärung or could I send the invitation now alraedy and the Verpflichtungserklärung later? How long does it take in general to get a Schengen-Tourist Visa from the german embassy?

Does this help? Spoke to one of my sisters-in-law earlier tonight when she call ed from Germany. She left approximately two weeks ago to visit several former students who now live in the Frankfort area and have married German nationals(she is a retired university professor).

She said she needed the following:

1. A letter of invitation to come to Germany
2. An affidavit from someone in Germany, notarized, agreeing to be responsible for any debts incurred while she is in Germant, medical bills, auto accidents, etc., etc.
3. Sufficient information to show STRONG ties to Colombia. She gave a copy of the deed to a home she owns, pension papers, bank accounts, etc., etc.
4. Application and visa were through the German Consulate in Cali.

A young lady at the consulate, a former student of hers, said the over riding concern is, "Will this individual return to Colombia?" All in all Ella said the entire process was much less trouble than going through the visa process at the American Embassy-mainly because now the US Governmant has closed all consulates. Hope this helps and I am sorry I forgot to ask how much the visa costs. Hope this helps.

A la orden,

Gator

time of the invitation Th Verpf...that thing does not last to be expeded. They give it to you the same day you ask for it. But it is valid only for three months so you have to make it in October. They tell you to show all your papers at least 5 weeks before the trip...remember to show the strong ties to Colombia as Gator said. Good luck!
