Tourist Visa (Canada) - Interview at Embassy??

Hi all,

My colombianita applied in November and was denied the visa. She is applying again now and this time my parents are inviting her, providing a letter of financial support with proof of financial means, and are getting that letter notarised. Will this help?

I will be in Colombia and we'll have the opportunity to go together to the Embassy - is there any way to set up an interview? Is it a good idea for me to be there? We're pretty sure she was denied the first time because we explicitly said in the application letter that we were in a romantic relationship... so that sunk us...

Any advice?
Thanks
Ryan

no chance kid... search this site for many attempts
by others to solve this problem.

she will NEVER get a this visa.

here is the straightforward advice:...
...if you are serious about having this girl come to canada,
the best way is to invest in documenting a legitimate conjugal partner relationship, as prescribed by canada immigration.
you sound as if you are alrady on the way, so it will only take another year or two of stress.....good luck.
or,...as many others have suggested,...just hit it to miami, or new jersey and have a nice selection without any problem immigrating.

I would have to agree with oldgringo above We tried twice. Third time I went personally. Also I had another friend try (lives in a condo, owns a car, kids, spouse, career - the works). She wanted to vist her sister living here in Toronto. No go on all accounts. Plain and simple truth is this: Colombians living in Colombia WILL BE DENIED visitor entry into Canada. I wont get into reasons behind why, its a topic for another thread. Just don't do it - trust me :/

Solution?

If you're serious, get married. This path is long and hard - paperwork is definitely a killer here, and will cost you a bundle too. But definitely doable. It's what we decided to do at this point.

OR, do what oldgringo stated. I'm not really familiar with this approach. He posted on this topic before, but be warned, he's a bit cryptic, and likes the 3rd person alot. Reading his posts is alot like reading the bible hehe ;) Confusing at first, but informative in the end.

P.S. Oh, and the complete answer to your question is a blunt No. You being there means jack. You'll get to talk to the English speaking clerk behind the bullet-proof glass and he'll just tell you the same thing the website will tell you better. The embassy assumes nothing; In a world of 'he said/she said' paper is king. Meaning, as far as they're concerned, you and your girlfriend met on a street 10 minutes before you stepped into the embassy. And so, by that standard, you speaking on her behalf bears absolutely no weight on the outcome of her visitors visa application (which, again I stress, will be denied - 99% of the time).

[WARNING: personal vent with no bearing on the topic - read at your own risk]

P.S.S. The ironic part is that I knew this. And I still went ahead. All I learned is that Canada is represented in Colombia with a bank like office floor no bigger than my own crappy apartment, a substituted Colombian staff (half of which struggles with english, god knows french) and absolutely no national heritage... The door should plainly be re-labeled "We have no interests in this country what so ever".

[end of vent]

Good vent, dude. You are remarkably restrained IMHO.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

very kind of you, spirytus... to recommend the oldgringos message to the poster.

...and he is indeed a biblical throwback.
