PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
Thanks for viewing my post. I am from London and planning on flying out to Cali in September. Having had a look at what is required in order for a tourist visa to be issued, I have a couple of questions:
(i) Why is a copy of my bank statement required? Will it affect my application if I am into an overdraft, i.e. have a bank account with a negative balance? I still have funds available to me because I am nowhere near the limit of my overdraft.
(ii) Is a letter of invitation from a Colombian national/resident or a hotel booking really required?
Thanks for any help/advice on these issues!

famsearch says on Aug 3, 2006, 01:38: i took a quick look at the colombian embassy's website. if london is still in the united kingdom, you do not need a tourist visa to enter colombia. the only countries that need the tourist visa are: argelia, cuba, egypt, haiti, india, iran, kenya, morrocco, nicaragua, nigeria, dominican rep., people's republic of china, and senegal. dan 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

How ever, do you know what a Colombian joe needs to go to UK?. well....Bank Statetements (why? I do not know!) and the Yankee Visa (call it USA Visa)(why? I do not know as well!).

Gator says on Aug 3, 2006, 07:30: I Assune You.... are a British subject and NOT a national of a country that requires the issuance of a formal tourist visa for entry into Colombia. As others have stated a British subject does NOT require a formal visa. Your passport is sufficient. "Brevior Sltare Cum Deformibus Mulieribus Est Vita!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Tomatico says on Aug 3, 2006, 10:16: El Flaco.... When did you last go to colombia? I'm a Londoner too. I went last June 2004 and didn't have to pay an exit tax. The lady at the checkin desk said that because my ticket was bought in the EU I didn't need to pay.

shuntleg says on Aug 3, 2006, 12:09: On a similar note... I am an Irishman in Venezuela and trying to spend a bit of time in Colombia - well, as much time as possible - before we leave on August 19th. I have been told today by the Colombian Consulate here in Merida that it could take 8 days for the visa to come through - does anybody know if this is really the case? Is there anything we can say to fast track it? Anybody heard of other Irish people that have done this recently?
