Total costs for the interview...

Can someone tell me what is the total cost that my fiance has to pay the day of the interview? I know the exams are like 255.000 pesos but what is the fee at the embassy? If there is any extra fee, other than US$100.00 paid at the Banco Union Colombiano.

I appreciate any information.
Thanks.

Kolkes When I went through the visa process (Visa received on July 17th) those were all the fees I had to pay

Remember to plan on staying 1 or 2 more days in Bogota after the interview because she will be given her visa the next day at 4 pm I think.

Good luck

Silvia

Thank you Silvia, I was confused because I saw a 380.00 dollars fee on the embassy website http://bogota.usembassy.gov/wwwsimve.shtml#K-1

This is what it says:

"IMMIGRANT VISA

The formal application for an immigrant visa has a fee of $380.00 or its equivalent in Colombian pesos. On the day of the interview, the applicant will be charged a total of $380.00."

Anyone knows what this fee is all about?

The $380 is for an immigrant visa which does not apply to you. The K visas are actually non-immigrant visas but handled by the Immigrant Visa Unit at the embassy. She does not have to pay anything at the interview - paying the bank and getting the receipt in her passport did the job.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

A question for someone who recently went through the interview events please:

We are doing the interview/medicals next week. I haven't reviewed all the paperwork my fiancee has (I only have poor scans) ...but what are the paying events I should plan on?

- about 255.000 pesos, some paid at a bank after the lab work before the doctor, and some paid in a second transaction?

- US$100 (can this be paid in USD or is it the COP equivalent?) paid at the bank across from embassy in conjunction with getting a "paid" stamp on the D-156 (or is it D-156K...)?

Thanks!!

Evertything is done in Pesos My fiancee paid the lab, the doctor (their fees are posted on the website and in the packet 3 that she will receive) and the bank for the embassy. No dollars are needed though its possible some of them do accept them.
My fiacee didn't live in Bogota (she is from Barranquilla) so there was the hotel, food, transportation etc. etc. etc. also! (Her total expenses were just over $1000.) Good luck

Can anyone break down the two fees - lab+doctor and embassy - and explain where each is paid, or what the options are regarding where to pay and what currency (regarding the embassy fee which is listed in USD instead of pesos)?

Just these two fees, none of the other stuff. Thanks!

Everything is paid in Colombian Pesos The Lab fee of $120,000 COP is paid in cash at the lab
The Doctor fee of $135,000 COP is paid at the doctor
The Embassy fee of the current COP value of $100 USD is paid at the Banco Union across the street from the embassy in PESOS ($230,000 COP, more or less depending on the exchange rate).

I made the mistake of taking a bunch of USD only to have to get Pesos for everything.

jmoon,

i keep a ms word file open, and anytime i see anything of interest i cut/paste, and organize it. so, regarding the visa process, i have a section for i-129f/uscis, a section for nvc, interview, medical, hotel, aos, etc...

over the 6-12 months that i've been doing this, that word file has been a huge resource.
