Tonight, I am actually going to have dinner in Siloe

You wont believe this but I actually got invited to have dinner at a friends house in barrio Siloe here in Cali. I am a little nervous from all the stories that I have heard( not from this site but from actual Colombians) claiming that there are Guerilla that live there( undercover of course) and that it is the worst area of Cali and so on however one thing is for certain. I will mostlikely find my Coca plant there tonight. I hope. Wish me luck. P.S.- I was told not to speak until we got inside the house because unless I open up my mouth, people here think I am a Colombian. I love this covert stuff.

Good for you! I've been to both Siloe and Agua Blanca. Yes, there are guerrillas there, and they don't bite. They are Colombians. There are also guerrillas working day jobs in places like Almacenes Exito, Carrulla, Olimpica, SuperLey, Carrefour, banks, colegios. You never know if the checkout guy for your groceries is a militia.

The guerrillas aren't all monsters. They aren't all narco-crazed killers. Some even still have ideals. My beef with them is the means they choose to bring about the realization of their ideals. But I respect them for loving Colombia and wanting a more just society. Just wish they would renounce violence.
