To the mods

There is a certain poster who refers to me as J-ass. Shall I retaliate? You whine about how the site is full of rancor but it is YOUR fault! Yes, I am talking to you. Enforce the frigging rules or don't complain when we take matters into our own hands.

JS, was the guy calling you "J-ass" the same one who called me "Bob"? Just curious if it was Lexus.

I wonder if the person calling JS "J-ass" is the same that used to call me "Testass". Quite inventive!

Jajaja, for a rough and tumble texan, he sure is a bit sensitive, any criticism and of and running to the mods are we.

christobeldawg says on Jan 12, 2008, 23:44:

he referred to me recently as a gringo clown. Can you imagine that, with my avatar? jaja I blasted him back, can't say how, as Desi asked me to delete it.

I've already edited that comment.
I agree with Christo, you can't have it both ways, John. I believe in having a little self-discipline and manners; what is said in anger can be edited afterwards and no bad feelings.
Peter's advice is the absolutely best way to handle personal grievances.
Cheers!

john_stark says on Jan 13, 2008, 02:06:

I disagree. I hate being a whiny little bitch complaining to the moderators. The mods keep thinking that people are going to show manners and behave. They aren't going to and the state of PBH is proof of that. This has been my gripe with the site for years. You guys are like referees who refuse to do their job but instead keep complaining about the players and why won't they play clean. They will but only if you display a willingness to enforce the rules. After a period of enforcing the rules the site would start to show some civility but it won't happen until you do.

john_stark says on Jan 13, 2008, 02:28:

Christobeldawg, if I specifically called you a name then I hereby apologize.

scotty says on Jan 13, 2008, 02:48:

there you go dawg he apologized, now you guys shake hands .

I would have to completely agree. It all starts with the moderators setting the ground rules and enforcing them, and treating everyone equal, regardless of favorites.

But... the members also have to act like adults as well. I do not get why grown people choose to act like children on here 'cause it's the internet.

A little less xenophobia might be nice as well.

gringoloid says on Jan 13, 2008, 15:33:

Actually J_S, being called a jack___ is really not too bad.

Today, I had two sexual insults delivered for absolutely no reason, one from a mod on a mundane banking thread and another from someone else who can't defend their points rationally.

It can get a whole lot worse, dude.

sloopskipper says on Jan 13, 2008, 15:59:

And for many "OH, not THAT AGAIN!" or "do a google search we already discussed that!" when a newcomer asks a simple, easy answered question. The newcomers did not see what was discussed earlier, and the searches usually produce meaningless bullshit.

joetexan says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:04:

I agree that JS loves to insult people so I found his complaint humorous.

I have participated on a lot of political websites with very intense conflicts -Jews/Arabs, Demoncrates/Republicans, Europeans/Americans, etc., but even the insults tended to be creative and funny. Not here. Here is seems to be mostly people who want to tell you want you can say and what they have decided you can't say. Like they own the place. Little nazis. Like the "stauch Catholic" JS telling me my posts about cultural and religious differences are "sick, garbage, stupid," etc. Not real creative and definately boring.

sloopskipper says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:06:

For sure! But his comments are totally without humor.

It is nice to meet people here who can seriously discuss situations and possibilities in Colombia, not CLOWNS!

john_stark says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:17:

I think it's fine to disagree with someone's comments and all of the above posts don't bother me in the least. Calling my comments stupid or idiotic, I can handle. They frequently are stupid and/or idiotic. Of course many of you don't remember my disclaimer which maybe I should resurrect:

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

sloopskipper says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:18:

and?

Why waste your time or ours?

sloopskipper says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:21:

Most people here seek genuine information about this country, not bullshit.

sloopskipper says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:22:

And, insults are usually taken seriously

john_stark says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:22:

That's why they have the Ignore feature, dude. However, you never know, I've read some interesting comments from people I thought were total idiots and then lo and behold!

Colombiche says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:23:

I try to keep up with all the insults, but if I miss one, please send me a message and I will delete asap. I try to read all the comments on the page, but I clean toilets 14 hours a day :)

PBH would be one of the last places I would get reliable info about Colombia. Of course I could change my mind if Morphus continues to surprise me with his gems.

I even USED to listen to Rush Limbaugh, in the USA, although I seldom agreed with what he said.

"PBH would be one of the last places I would get reliable info about Colombia"

I too have found a disconnect between the reality of Colombia as vastly portrayed on this website and my own experiences. That being said, there are many people and threads on this site that do offer very valuable information and good advice.

sloopskipper says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:35:

But, John, you reduced your credibility to -1 with the "Death to gringos" statements

sloopskipper says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:38:

I find it is worthwhile to view comments here, and TRY to balance them with info from other sources. And I have Colombiano friends here, in Panamá.

And, I have spent a few days with the lovely people in Cartagena.

sloopskipper says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:49:

Well said, maininred, I am sure

Yes, but of what value?

"I hate being a whiny little bitch complaining to the moderators."

Then, ummm, what would you call the title of this thread, john? ;)

A couple of you guys get upset for sooo little reason. There's more than one poster here that can call me whatever they want- couldn't care less. "consider the source" I think it's called....

Before you throw me out, make sure I pay my bar tab

sloopskipper says on Jan 13, 2008, 16:52:

"Death to gringos"? very questionable value

sloopskipper says on Jan 13, 2008, 17:10:

I'm sorry, but the guy I was talkin' about, and I don't remember the thread, finalized with "Kill the gringos" and I think he is gringo in MONTANA, USA. How sick is THAT?

john_stark says on Jan 13, 2008, 18:19:

Did it ever occur to you that I might have been joking? Talk about literal-minded.

robi666 says on Jan 13, 2008, 18:54:

Jesus, John, were you just joking? I am taking you out from my list of friend... :-)

Sometimes there is some long thread that I am too lazy to read. If John posts, I just read his post and know what it is all about.

christobeldawg says on Jan 13, 2008, 20:10:

the kill the gringos remark is the bad John. He actually has a nice side, and is often very informative on this site. apology accepted JS, no big deal. You really should consider, since you're here alot, adding some friends. You have NONE, which makes no sense.

admittedly, arriving can feel great too

Robert Jorge says on Jan 13, 2008, 20:26:

He's got one now. I thought I had put him on my friends list. I guess it was his last alias. The SOB gave me good info on visa details 2 years ago - I consider that a friend.
