If you are good looking you will be able to get a good looking Colombian girl, just like you will be able to at home. But you will not find any (significant) advantage on arrival in this country. Take it from somebody who has been asking out pretty Colombian girls left and right. There may be some (very theoretical) advantage, especially if you have movie star looks, but if you are an average or below average looking guy, forget it.

Although I cannot speak for cities outside of Bogota (where I am), there are not that many pretty girls here. Probably about the same per capita amount as wherever you live. The whole Colombia has the prettiest girls thing seems to be a myth, at least in Bogota (everyone says that Medellin and Cali and even Cartegena all have more pretty girls though.) So they are sufficiently rare that they are in very high demand and nearly always have boyfriends (that they are happy with) or are married with children. I am guessing that you will find that as few as 1 in 10 of the pretty girls you meet will be single/available.

However as I said, if you are a good looking gringo, you should have no problem finding a very beautiful Colombian girlfriend if that is what you want. Just don´t expect her to want to leave Colombia with you (another myth). I am still searching for the mythical ´from zero to hero´ country where average looking or even ugly guys can have a beautiful girlfriend, but as far as I have seen this mythical country does not seem to exist. At this point I am about at the end of my search.

I agree- being a gringo isn't an instant passport into a Colombiana's affections. But it can mean you represent: a. Emotional and financial stability b. Somewhere exotic (to them) and interesting. Both factors will obviously work in your favour.

Colombia has no greater proportion of beautiful women than anywhere else in the world. But, as has been said, they make the most of themselves, have honed social/flirtation skills, are gregarious etc.

I dont think being a gringo gives you tons of advantages, you might have gotten looks in the street three or four years ago, when a pasty gringo was an exotic creature...I doubt thats the case now, I dont really know.

Besides looks if you are a gentleman most of the times and smart, there won´t be any trouble finding a mate in Colombia, regardless of being a gringo or not, and if guys aren’t full of resentments they will not be trashing out, generalizing with bad connotations women from any ethnic group.

A few Colombians might resort to foreign men as the last option.

Let me commence by stating that Colombia is the greatest place in the planet for average to ugly looking gringos.
I’m a very typical Colombian, NOT the Uribe Colombiano more like the Diomenes Diaz Colombian, dark injun, and we make up most of the population.

In poor neighborhoods I do quite well with the ladies, they like the rugged manly looking guys. Why? cus violence is a way of life among the poor and women need to feel physically protected thus the reason the bigger and uglier you are, the more chucha you get, and that’s where I come in. While middle class and up Colombianas prefer guys like this, the whiter the better.

I witness stunning young rich barranquilleras stumble and push each other for some howdy doody freckled face gringo kid in north curramba.

That same kid, in south curramba would not raise an eye brow and most likely get robbed by the girls. .
Anyway, the howdy doody kid was in total sock at all the attention he was getting, he knows that in the streets of NYC no girl would even look at him. WHY IN COLOMBIA?
It has to do with Colombian low self esteem; I’ll try to explain with out offending anyone.

I must say, I am shocked by these comments. I am an America, have a beautiful wife and daughter. My money situation was much better in the States, but that has not changed anything. I can only speak from where I have lived however, Manizales and Pamplona has the most beautiful that I have ever seen. These towns are heavily populated with college students. I would say 7 out of 10 are very pretty without boyfriends. I am sooooooooo sorry to hear about other parts, but here in Pamplona I feel like I have died and went to heaven. The best thing about these women, they do not have the attitude like America women. They have no idea how pretty they are. They have the nicest attitudes and are waiting for someone to talk to them. Most women would settle for a man who is faithful. Sorry, but most of the Colombia men I know have 2 to 4 girlfriends. There is a serious shortage of men so the women settle for what they can get or nothing at all. Thank God I have a wife that I love very much or I know I would be in all kinds of trouble.
