To all Colombinas out there

Can you tell me how many years after you stop university the university stops giving you credit for your studies.

ie ..my friend has 3 years from a university and she has told me that after 2 years the university will cancel all her previous studies .....this sounds abit tough ..in Australia it is 10 years ....My friend has also told me that she cannot transfer any credits to another university and they are all Federal Universities.....

Is this correct ? any ideas?
